A: I'm an electrician and concur with the other answers, you need to look into grounding issues, specifically what's called a "ground loop". As for the UPS, it won't fix this issue, it fixes voltage and power factor issues as well as backup power of course, but it won't hurt anything either. They do make "ground loop isolators" that may do the trick, but sometimes won't help either.

A: Yes they are replaceable. One small screw on the bottom and the cover slides, then lifts off. Slide the battery part way out and disconnect the (2) wires. Reverse to install new battery. We use (2) Duracell Ultra (# DURA12-9f2) batteries. Which are 12V 9AH AGM batteries.
