Rokinon 12mm T2.2 Cine Lens For Sony E Mount

The Rokinon 12mm T2.2 Cine Lens for Sony E Mount is a wide-angle lens optimized for digital cinematography. The lens produces an image circle that will cover APS-C sized sensors or smaller. For use with a follow focus unit, the focus and aperture rings feature industry-standard 0.8 pitch gearing. The aperture ring is also de-clicked to allow for smooth iris pulls while shooting. Focus, aperture, and depth of field markings are on the side of the lens to aid focus pullers, who typically operates on the side of the camera.
With an angle of view of 98.9°, the lens is well-suited for shooting landscapes, architecture, and for use in tight interior locations. It's fast maximum aperture of T2.2 also makes the lens suitable for shooting low-light conditions. Three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion in order to produce sharper images. Additionally, a Nano Coating System (NCS) has been applied to the lens elements in order to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting for improved light transmission and more contrast-rich imagery. A bayonet-mount lens hood and lens pouch come included with the lens.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Will this work on the Panasonic GH4?
A: Yes it will. Very sharp
Q: 2. I'm unclear if this lens works on a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera without an adapter or not, previous answers are unclear?
A: Yes it does. This listing, B&H # RO1222M43, is for a lens with an MFT Mount. The Pocket Cinema Camera has an MFT Mount.
Q: 3. Is there any disadvantage to buying this lens and using for stills? I like the clickless aperture for video and don't mind the non-fixed f stops.
A: The disadvantage is using it in scenarios where you have to change focus very often and needing metadata. I'm using this lens primarily for stills...something like 80/20 photos/videos. I have zero issues with the lens. While an auto lens would have been helpful--and very much more expensive for a fast lens--I pretty much always shoot on a tripod, aperture priority (or manual) using the full range of T/f stops, at ISO 100. I certainly like the smooth cine T stops (whatever they are called). This lens compliments my use of late 70's Mamiya SLR lenses (using an adapter) on my Sony A6000. It does take a bit of time and practice shooting without auto functions (just like the old days with film). My main use is in real estate, architecture, and landscape imagery.I'm very please with this lens and I would recommend it for the budget conscious or patient photo/videographer.
Q: 4. What are some good ND filters as I have purchased one but don't have anything to help fight being overexposed while shooting outside at a wide open aperture in order to get nice bokeh?I am currently shooting on the BMPCC.
A: This lens takes 67mm filters. I suggest for video an ND 9 which is 3 stops of light blockage.Neutral Density filters traditionally are rated: ND 3 is 1 stop, ND 6 is 2 stops, ND 9 is 3 stops and ND 1.2 is 4 stops. You can buy separate filters for each of these strengths or you may choose a variable ND. These work by rotating a sandwich of two polarizing filters. The great convenience is that you have all your ND filters in just one. I prefer solid ND over variable ND filters for their evenness of effect. However, there are others who are completely satisfied with variable ND's. Here is a link to what are the best selling variable ND's.http://bhpho.to/1NISmRFHere is a link to 67mm best selling solid ND's I can suggest.http://bhpho.to/1KL7M8xPersonally, I like B+W for their quality. Q: 5. Could I use a step-up ring to fit a 77mm filter to this or would the hood prevent this? Thanks
A: I do not know sorry.
Q: 6. I know this lens is a manual only lens. However, I would like to know if I use it on my Lumix G7 can I still get focus peaking working if I use this lens with it?
A: Yes, you will be able to focus peak with this lens. Focus peaking is a monitoring function that works with all types of lenses.
Q: 7. Does anyone know if this works on a GH5?
A: Yes, this will work on a GH5.
Q: 8. Works on the g7 I assume?
A: Works GREAT on the G7! One of my favorite lenses.
Q: 9. Will this work well on the a7?
A: The Sony a7 is a full-frame camera while this Rokinon 12mm T2.2 Cine Lens for Sony E Mount is for smaller APS-C sensors. If you use it straight on the camera in full frame mode, you will see severe darkening of the corners or vignetting. However, Sony is aware of this and has a APS-C mode that is selectable in the camera so in the end, you can use this lens on the a7. It will deliver sharp images, day or night. Just be aware you are cropping the image so you will not get as many MP's out of the image like in full-frame mode. Correctly handled, the difference in image quality is not considered an issue by most pros.
Q: 10. Would this lens work with my Rebel T2i?
A: No, it's not an EF mount, its micro four thirds. It may work on Canon cameras with a micro four thirds to EF mount adapter.
