The silver, Micro Four Thirds mount Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens is a prime wide-angle lens designed specifically for use with Micro Four Thirds sized image sensors. Providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 24mm and a broad 83° angle of view, this lens is well-suited for architectural, interior, and landscape images. Its fast f/2.0 maximum aperture is further beneficial to working in low-light conditions.

Three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion in order to produce sharper images. Additionally, a Nano Coating System (NCS) has been applied to the lens elements in order to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting for improved light transmission and more contrast-rich imagery

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the silver version come with a lens hood? it's not shown in the pictures.

A: Yes it does. Comes with a black one.

Q: 2. Is the focal length 12mm or 18mm? Specs are confusing and state both under the focal length section. I have the Sony 18-135 so will this lens be wider?

A: The Samyang lens is 12mm on Sony APS-C E-mount cameras (A6000 series, NEX series, etc). Its equivalent focal length is 18mm if used on a full frame E-mount camera (Sony A7). I use this lens on both my Sony NEX-6 & NEX-7. It's very sharp. Your 18-135mm lens at 18mm is equivalent to 27mm if used on full frame camera (Sony A7). So yes, the view on Samsung 12mm lens is much wider than your 18-135. It is made specifically for APS-C cameras & not recommended to use on full frame cameras.

Q: 3. I have a Sony A7ii. Do I need a Sony E adapter for using this Samyang lens?

A: The Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens for Sony E-Mount is directly compatible with the Sony a7II.

Q: 4. Is this lens compatible with the Sony Alpha a7R iii?

A: Yes and no. It will fit the camera, but it is meant for the APS-C crop sensor. It will vignette unless the camera is set to Super35/APS-C mode,

Q: 5. Can you adapt this to a sony e mount w/o vignetting?

A: You surely can mount vignetting but I don't know about adapting to Sony

Q: 6. Will this lens work with the Panasonic GH cameras (ie, GH3, GH5) or will I need to get a Fotodiox adapter?

A: This is a Micro Four Third Lens, it will go on Panasonic GH3 or GH5 Cameras, without any adapter. Please note, this is a manual lens, no auto focus no auto aperture. But it is a great wide angle lens.

Q: 7. I had the Rokinon and I bought the Samyang recently and was comparing the two and the focus on Samyang is at a different mark on the focus ring and is a bit softer than the Rokinon. You think I might have a bad copy of the Samyang? See the comparisons here:https://ibb.co/hfEMSThttps://ibb.co/dYR1SThttps://ibb.co/gRajgohttps://ibb.co/kA7x1ohttps://ibb.co/jm1eE8https://ibb.co/nsy4gohttps://ibb.co/eAnanThttps://ibb.co/g74c1ohttps://ibb.co/mmcanT

A: Sorry, we cannot see those images. If both the focus distance is off and the image is soft, then that is all you need to know that you should exchange the lens. The performance of these two lenses should be identical since they are made in the same factory, by the same people, and out of the same parts. Only the name is different.

Q: 8. Is this lens manual focus only? I'd be using it with a G7 and was curious if I can us AF or if it has to be MF?

A: Manual focus only. No auto focus. But frankly, I enjoyed the manual focus. It makes you think about the composition of the picture before snapped the shot. In daylight situations, you can stop it down and set the focus at about 10 feet and shoot all the pictures you want. Most will be in focus.

Q: 9. How would this lens be at shooting sunset pics?

A: That would be awesome. 12mm will be 18 in APS-C sensor. Hope you will get enough of coverage of sunset.

Q: 10. Are there fractional f-stop increments on this lens? i.e. can you only change in full stops or can you go from, say, f/2.0 to f/2.4?

A: Yes, it has 1/2 stop clicks.

Some landscape photographers highly recommended and its cheaper than the new auto focus lens. I decided to try it. You need to learn to use the camera in manual, especially the focus magnifier and focus peaking . You can learn how to set up your camera on YouTube. I recommend getting the right exposure using the correct F stop, shutter speed and ISO otherwise it is too dark or light to focus manually. I enjoyed the lens once I learned to focus. I also discovered that you can find lens correction in Lightroom to help develope an even better image.

Lens works great on my a5100 and my Sony A7rii In cropped sensor mode. Super light and affordable lens. Highly recommended!

After a couple outings with this lens I found it to be better than my expectations. It has solid build and fine optics. I needed a lens for those occasional times that you want the whole picture. An upcoming trip to Iceland is where I knew this to be my case. Small and light in size it will not be a problem for my camera bag. Like the 85, just know that the small bar above the line at infinity is where you set your focus, no need to bother with focusing after this if you are stopped down.

This compact lens is a winner! Sturdy build quality and high-resolution images at all f-stops. Smooth focusing, too. Included lens hood is a welcome plus. Can't go wrong with this one!

Picked this lens over the Fujifilm 14mm f2.8. Why?
—1 stop brighter
—2mm wider
—better manual focus feel
—cheaper (I got this on sale here for $230!)

Quality is impressive — both construction and photographs. Note: without the petal hood attached it has veiling and conventional flare. I happen to really like this trait, and will probably purchase more Samyang/Rokinon lenses (likely here on BHPhoto!) in the future.

Highly recommended!

I wanted a fast, wide lens and this is performing as expected. I know there's better (and much more expensive) glass out there, but I can't detect any flaws in this one.

I went back and forth on buying this lens for several weeks. I read a ton of reviews, looked through a variety of example photos, and compared to more expensive alternatives. I'm new to photography and wanted to get my feet wet in astrophotography and shooting interiors. This lens fit the bill for both objectives seamlessly. I was worried about this lens being manual focus, but it's really not a big deal. The price is fantastic and I'm having a blast with it. Highly recommend!!

I bought this lens to capture enough light at f2.0 for some milky way photos. Havent tried that yet but some basic lens tests look promising.

This lens is definitely sharper than my Panasonic 12-60 kit lens at 12mm on my G85, both at f2.0 and f8 compared to the kit lens at f3.5 and f8. So I am hoping for some sharp star photos.

One caveat/warning: at f2.0 infinity is not quite in focus at my lenss infinity mark. On my lens, distant focus is sharpest when set at 2mm before the infinity mark. See the accompanying photo. The pencil marks are 2mm apart. So do your own test before rushing out into the cold dark night!
