Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. BNC camera to HDMI?

A: This device will have a BNC connection, yes but it will be an SDI connection via a BNC connector.

Q: 2. How many analog signals in the input and SDI outputs?

A: There is one input, and two SDI outputs.

Q: 3. With the SDI loop out be converted or will that be the same as the input signal? We need to convert SDI 25P to SDI 50i & HDMI 50i at the same time. Thanks

A: The SDI Loop Out will have the same signal as the input. It is best to use the Lumantek HDMI/SDI Cross Converter and Scaler for your scenario. Lumantek HDMI/SDI Cross Converter with Audio Mux/Demux and Scaler https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1445125-REG/lumantek_ez_md_hdmi_sdi_cross_converter_with.html

Q: 4. Can this unit output all 8 at once from one input? For exmaple if I have an HDMI source, can it output 4x SDI and 4x HDMI?

A: Yes, all of the Lilliput 2 x 8 SDI/HDMI Splitter and Converters' outputs would be active and live.

Q: 5. are all the pins supposed to be up ?

A: I am guessing you mean the DIP Switches. These switches would be set according to how you want to run this converter. Some of the settings include Analog or AES audio and channel selection. The switch settings are listed on the back of the unit.

Q: 6. I'm looking to specifically transcode SDI 23.98 1080p to HDMI 29.97 or 60i. Will it work?

A: Yes, you can change SDI 1080p 23.98 to HDMI 29.97 or 60i. You can find the specs from the BHphotovideo website or http://lumantek.com/index/product_view/59.

Q: 7. Will this convert an NTSC composite video to SDI?

A: Yes

Q: 8. Is there a way to go from VGA to BNC male for this? Would RGBHV work if I just didn't use the H & V cables?

A: Most likely not. RGB does not carry sync, so you would need H and V inputs. You will need a VGA to SDI scaler. Hope this aswers the question

Q: 9. What is the latency between the SDI video and analogue audio?

A: According to Blackmagic Design, The Mini Converter SDI to HDMI has a delay of less than a single line of video, except when it needs to convert PsF to P, which will take one frame. The Analog to SDI has a four line delay.

Q: 10. Hi. I have an old professional VHS camera that has BNC video output. So to capture the video to my Mac book, first I have to use this analog-sdi converter, after I have to connect it to the Design UltraStudio Mini Recorder, and after connect all this to laptop? And what’s the difference if I will use Elgato USB Analog Video Capture Device Instead of all this, connected to the camera via bnc-s-video cable ( it passes the color) and connected to laptop via usb? Thank you very much for your answer!

A: If you use the Blackmagic Design Mini Converter Analog to SDI, it will convert the analog signal to digital and then the Blackmagic UltraStudio Mini Recorder could be used. However, the Elgato USB analog video capture device could be used as a more direct solution to convert an analog source. The only major advantage in using the Blackmagic solution would be to use Blackmagic's Media Express software (free download) to encode it into a variety of formats, such as Apple Prores.
