Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. good idea to use this as boom pole (on stand) for interview?

A: The Gitzo GM2542 monopod could function as a boom pole in a pinch but isn't designed for that use and might have issues with audible reverberations. We'd highly recommend purchasing a proper boom pole for interviews. The Rode Micro Boompole (BH #ROMICROBOOMP) is a great low-cost option.

Q: 2. Can you put the three footed device on it!

A: Being that the foot at the bottom uses a 3/8-16" threading, the Benro 3-Leg Locking Base For Monopods, BH # BEVT2 would be something you can use. https://bhpho.to/2RCCWM4

Q: 3. What is the diameter of the assembly disc? Will it fit a RRS BH-30?

A: It is compatible with RRS BH-30 Ball Head

Q: 4. is there a 3/8 hole on the bottom?

A: The Gitzo GM4532 Series 4 Carbon Fiber Monopod has a 3/8"-16 screw on the base mount. The foot on the monopod is removable, and it has a 3/8"-16 thread size.

Q: 5. The wire on the rubber foot came off and thus the rubber comes off the monopod. Is there a replacement part?

A: While the metal wire is not sold separately, a complete replacement foot can be purchased, Gitzo model GSF50M. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1331003-REG/gitzo_gsf50m_big_foot_50mm.html

Q: 6. Is it completely stable at full extension, even with pro-size DSLRs and long lenses? Ive read some reviews of other 6-section monopods that they can be unstable if all the sections are fully extended.

A: I've used it with a Canon 1Dx2 and a Canon 500mm f/4L lens and I have no complaints whatsoever.

Q: 7. Where is this monopod made?

A: This item's country of origin is Italy.

Q: 8. Is this legal in carry-on luggage?

A: It is not an item that is listed specifically as being prohibited on any airlines that we know of, however before traveling if you are concerned you are advised to contact the airline you are traveling on and the airports you are traveling through to see what the local rules and practices may dictate.

Q: 9. Anyone had use this monopod with a gimbal + camera attached and doing video shoot like a jib shot style ? I would like to use it mostly horizontally, having my zhiyun crane v2 with a Panasonic GH5 (about 5 pounds); to make a lot of crane/jib shot style shooting; and need to make sure it wont break under the tension cause while in an horizontal position. Thkx

A: Steve Perry recommended the WH-100 Wimberly Head on his video. I bought one and it is excellent. The WH-100 is Better than All the others. I have tried the ones mentioned. They are so inferior and more importantly less trustworthy to disengage and drop your lens. The WH-100 is Very Well made PLUS less expensive than most other set ups. I also replaced the foot on all my lenses with a Wimberly Foot as well so I have eliminated the need to add a plate onto the foot. I don't trust the screws at all. They can work loose. I can just pick up any lens and clamp it onto the WH-100 or my other Tripods. I now do not worry at all about my Camera and Lens falling off!!

Q: 10. any way to convert this into tripod? I need that sometimes..

A: I bought this monopod to use on an upcoming trip to Alaska. There will be times when we will be on a train or a bus, and I felt that this monopod would be easier to have with me. I love Gitzo - I have a Gitzo tripod that I use all of the time. I have experimented with the monopod at home with ways to hold it against my body for extra stability. You could also use some object for more stability - a tree, building, fence, etc. My tripod will be in my luggage and my first choice to use, but I will have the monopod on my lap for more ease of travel.
