Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. in this monitor I can see shutter speed, iso, aperture, etc. as if it were the replica of the monitor of my canon r? Thank you

A: This will depend on how the camera is set. This will show whatever the camera is able to output to it. If you have screen info on for the camera’s HDMI output it will be shown on this monitor.

Q: 2. it says sdi "loop output" does that mean i can still go HDMI IN and then SDI out?

A: No it does not. This monitor is not able to convert from HDMI to SDI therefore you can not send a HDMI video feed in and send it out through SDI. The loop output is restricted to the type of input that is coming in. for example if HDMI video goes in then you can send it out via the HDMI Loop Output if SDI video goes in then you can send the video out via the SDI Output.

Q: 3. Is anyone else experiencing muffled audio and loud hissing noises throughout?

A: Make sure your gain is set correctly.

Q: 4. Can this monitor be used with a Nikon D750 and D560?

A: Yes it can be. The D750 and D5600 have HDMI outputs to connect to this monitor.

Q: 5. What does the switch on the back do?

A: One is a -10 dB -20 dB Pad. The other is a High-Pass Filter 80 Hz.

Q: 6. The Rycote Lyre Shockmount with the Rode Videomic Pro looks to be flimsy and easily breakable, and does not look replaceable. Have you found this to be a concern?

A: It may look flimsy, but the Rycote mount is super durable and chances are it will never break. I've used mine for about a year in the professional application of skateboard filming and mine has taken many hard hits from skateboards (along with my camera) and the Rycote mount is still solid. The durability of the Rycote is and will never be a concern of mine.

Q: 7. will this work with Lumix FZ300?

A: This should be no problem. Newer versions of the Lumix have the proper 3.5mm input jack so using the boom pole should work fine. Also, the standard shoe mount will accept direct mounting on the camera.

Q: 8. Does the bottom have a 1/4 screw hole so I could mount to a tripod?

A: specs read: has Camera shoe mount with 3/8 thread for easy boom-pole mounting so not a 1/4 screw hole. I checked mine and it is indeed 3/8 and larger than typical tripod mount. Perhaps you can find an adapter for it that B&H has. Ask the staff.

Q: 9. how would i mount this to a 1/4 20 mount?

A: To mount the Rode VideoMic Pro to a 1/4 -20 threading requires a reducer bushing.

Q: 10. I'm looking for a way to attach my webcam to my desk mounted microphone boom with a shock mount. Wondering if this could attach this to the top arm of the boom & attach the webcam to it? The webcam has a standard hole to attach to a camera mount like a tripod.

A: It would work, yes. You would need the appropriate adapter for your cameras mount. I own one of these and frankly, all I use it for is to hang my headphones. It is kind of bouncy because of the type and thickness of the metal. It will adjust to fit either your mic stand pole or the boom. However, I really would not recommend it for a camera because of its real potential for vibration. Not even a web cam. May I suggest a simple adapter from the top of mic stand which fits your camera. This would be a lot less shaky. And less expensive.

I used this for the first time at a wedding reception. I was getting an interview from the father of the bride and the music was blaring in the background so I couldn't hear half of what he was saying. I assumed the audio would be unusable but to my surprise you could hear every word crystal clear. This mic has exceeded my expectations. A must have for DSLR video.

I tried a few other shotgun mics around the same price and this was definitely the best choice.

I have had this mic for only about three weeks now but I could not be happier. It seems to be quality built and the performance is great. I will probably buy another in the future.

I bought it as a general purpose mic for a camera with a mini (1/8) jack. I also like that there are plenty of accessories that can be purchased for it and it can be mounted on a boom pole as well. The Rode VideoMic has proven itself time and time again in my productions and with countless other small(ish) budget productions it's a great mic for a great price from a great company.
