Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this fit the Sanken CS3e?

A: Yes, the Rycote 010324 Windshield Kit is compatible for use with the Sanken CS-3e Shotgun Microphone.

Q: 2. can i mount this with Rode NTG 2 on to my Rode micro boom pole? can micro boom pole carry the weight?

A: yes

Q: 3. Will a Sennheiser MKE 600 fit this blimp?

A: Yes. It fits mics up to 12.75 in length. The MKE 600 at 10.1 should fit great. My Rode NTG2 is 22mm in diameter so the Rycote Lyres should also hold the 20mm diameter of the MKE 600.

Q: 4. will the Sennheiser Mkh 416 fit into this setup?

A: The Rode Blimp Windshield will accommodate the Sennheiser MKH 416, and similar sized shotgun mics.

Q: 5. Can I put a Rde blimp on this suspension?

A: Hi Steve. This is a Rycote product, and cannot therefore be used with a Rde Blimp basket. The technology behind the Lyres originates with Rycote; however, we have licensed Rde to manufacture their own version, and so the Lyre that comes with and fits the VideoMic and similar/other products is designed and manufactured entirely by them. Rycote's official Lyres and suspensions are not incorporated: any versions you see on Rde products are made by them using their own materials and production methods under license, and fit using a different mechanism. Hope that helps!

Q: 6. Does it comes with screws?

A: Per Rycote, yes, screws are included: https://mymic.rycote.com/products/windshield-solutions/cyclone-windshield-kit/cyclone-pair-of-universal-lyre-72-shore/

Q: 7. hello I'm lookin for Rycote Lyre for an old system which are screwed from the front and rear (not top to bottom) ? thanks you for your answerBruno

A: Rode does carry parts for their older mics. Hopefully they can help to get you the correct Rycote Lyre shock mount for your mic. You can reach their customer service department by phone at 562-364-7400. Their US offices are based in California.

Q: 8. this blimp has enough room inside for the ambient emesser 308?

A: As the Ambient Recording Emesser ATE308 Figure-8 Microphone is quite small in its form factor, the Rycote Windshield Kit for Sennheiser MKH 416 and Select Shotgun Microphones would provide more than enough room to house it within.

Q: 9. What would be options for windshields that would fit with this and a Sennheiser mkh416? Thanks!

A: The proper windshield to fit a Sennheiser MKH-416 and the Rycote Medium Suspension 68 Duo is a Rycote Windshield #4; B&H# RYWS4. For further wind diffusion, feel free to add the Rycote Windjammer #4; B&H# RYWJ4. Also, these components are available as a kit (B&H# RYWSK4), providing users with some cost savings.

Q: 10. How long is the blimp when all together? I'm looking to purchase and need to know to make the right hard case purchase for it.

A: 48.3 x 16.5 x 22.9 cm

This does an excellent job of wind blocking my shotgun mic on the breezy day I tried it on. It was easy to hold with the pistol grip for the couple hours of capturing nature sounds. Without any sort of instructions, it took a bit of figuring to get the rubber gasket correctly seated around the cable, where it enters the blimp. And, I found that little bit easy to knock off if you open up the blimp to insert or remove the mic.

I have been making films and music videos for a few years now, and I couldn't imagine life without a blimp. If you plan on filming outdoors, without a doubt it's the best way to keep wind from ruining your audio. Most Shock mounts are junk, but the oversized shock mount, and hand gun style recording blimp allows you the best quality in keeping clean audio. I have seen this blimp used in Hollywood full feature films... if they use it, then it definitely will suite any needs of beginner or advanced filmmakers.

I use this RODE Blimp Complete System with a RODE 5 section boom pole, RODE NTG-2 Shotgun Mic and Zoom H4n recorder. I am quite pleased with the quality of this system. It comes with numerous suspension elements to fit virtually any shotgun microphone you may have. The housing has plenty of room for my NTG-2 and could accomodate a larger shotgun Mic. This is the first blimp system I have owned and the quality of my recorded audio is much improved over that obtained with a baseline foam/hair windscreen combination. The system does not add a lot of weight to the feel of the boom pole and conveys a very professional appearance.

The bay area has some very windy places, and it's just not acceptable to have wind noise interfere with your shoot, especially for a client. So, we picked this up in a hurry. Already have a couple of Rode mics that we like, and they worked great in the Rode blimp. Wind noise was virtually non-existent. Used this with a new boom pole, and handling noise was essentially gone too.Comes with a lot of different size mounting options for a variety of mics. The blimp is big, but not heavy or cumbersome. Also, makes you look really professional. For the price, it's a bargain compared to similar systems.

Handles the heavy Rode's NT4 Microphone without issue and makes recording worry free when the wind kicks up. Comes with most everything you need to record outdoors. CONS: I wished it was available with a 5 pin XLR cable included for the NT4 mic which uses a 5 Pin. It arrives outfitted with a standard 3 pin XLR.

If anyone knows Wellington, New Zealand you know it's windy here. I've done a few tests and it does a fine job of reducing wind noise to a usable level in all but the most extreme conditions

I've had this for a few weeks now, I like the fact that you can use it without the blimp as a really nice pistol grip, I like that it is of quality build and I really like the built in mogami cable. I've used it in really strong winds, no problems with the quality of the audio. I was on the fence on the blimp for a bit because there were some reviews out there claiming that the rycote mounts were a step back from the previous generation, but I'm glad i didn't listen.Wind Noise- Excellent SuppressionHandling Noise- Excellent when handled properly, don't expect to juggle the blimp and get no noise.

I recently purchased Rode's NTG-3 boom mic and purchased this blimp to get the most out of the NTG. Boy am I glad I did. This blimp will give you the flexibility of shooting in any outdoor conditions. It greatly reduces wind and unwanted ambient noise while keeping my target and subject clear and crisp. If you have or are looking to get a professional grade boom mic, you have to get this blimp. You won't regret it. It will greatly expand your recording options.

I ordered this Rode Blimp as part of a boom setup, all parts were ordered from B&H. I was excited the minute I had the package in my hands. Rode has a nack for making great looking packaging for their products. Packaging aside, the Rode Blimp is awesome right out of the box. It has a sturdy feel and as you adjust the different components of the blimp, it doesn't feel like it's about to fall apart like some systems. The pistol grip handle is really great, with a quick realease lever to adjust the angle of the blimp. I know I'll be using the pistol grip in many audio situations where a boom is not necessary. All of the XLR connections in the handle and the cables are very high quality. It's also easy to replace the cable should it ever become damaged. The suspension system is great and you can adjust the rubber bands to be in different configurations. The ends of the blimp just screw on with one turn, much less cumbersome than other slot and tab systems. The thing I love about Rode is that they include all accessories with the kit. The blimp comes with a handled allen wrench for making adjustments, as well as a brush for the furry wind cover.

Simply put, this does the job wonderfully. It's heavier than the Rycote, but it's just as durable, The handle makes it much more ergonomic, and the design is overall better than the Rycote. Not much else to say, really. This thing does the job amazingly!...if you don't mind the weight.
