It only took a few minutes to set up this fine piece of equipment.� The ruler markings with RED used to mark inches were easier than trying to read off a tape measure.� The cutters locked in and made very precise cuts.� The book that came with it and the YouTube links made getting started with any mat cutter very clear.� If� I can do it, anybody can do it.
The only down side I can think of is the width adjuster is not exactly parallel with the cutter and there is no adjustment that will fix that.� So to get an exactly square panel, using the long squaring bar to determine where the card stock references to is an adequate workaround.� Other than that, I would spend the money again to get this 750-1 over the 450 model.� B&H is great to deal with also.

Cut several mats and have had no problems with it. Cutting the photographs has been somewhat a problem. The roller cutter just doesn't want to cut the photograph on the first try. Even after several passes, the photograph would have the lower corner still attached.

I had used the same model in a matting and framing class at our local photography club, so I knew what to expect and only had to refresh my knowledge a bit with online instructional videos before use. Assembly is very easy. The cutter is well-made and fairly easy to use. Bending over the device while cutting can lead to back strain after a while but the only alternatives are the wall-mounted commercial cutters which cost a fortune. Overall, a well-designed product that gets the job done.

I've never cut mats before, but I was able to cut nice ones on the first try. Just read the directions. This cutter doesn't take up a lot of room and can be disassembled and stored in a closet, etc. easily.

The cutter was a breeze to set up & the first cut was to take a large peace of matting & cut it to size. The second cut was a bevel cut to fit a 11X14 picture. The second matting was so easy that it followed the opening of the first mat which made the 1/4 inch border the same on all 4 sides.

Great size, mat board standard size is 40. This model comes with all the cutters you could want. It cuts, paper, mat board, glass and plexi glass. Very easy to set up to make critical cuts.

My desire to learn framing, along with my passion for photography, led me to purchase this unit, and am I glad I did! While it takes a little RTFM, the overall set up, is pretty intuitive. Reading reviews from (some) others, made me a little apprehensive about the build quality and durability, but I can tell you, the nit pickers out there are WRONG! There are ample warnings about over tightening knobs, and if you are inclined to criticize because you don't believe what the manual says, shame on you! BUT....the 750-1 Simplex Elite Mat Cutter also comes with an instructional DVD and a how to book. Couldn't ask for moreThis model has everything you need to start cutting the materials needed for framing, i.e. mats, matboard, etc. and they even threw in a glass/acrylic cutter + a paper trimmer. Learning how to cut mats without over/under cutting, is an experience and practice, practice, practice thing.The product does what it is supposed to do, and I would HIGHLY recommend this to someone who wants to mat and frame their artwork/pictures, etc.

If you plan on cutting or working with 40” matting than the 750-1 is a must. It’s well made, easy to assemble, and works great. For myself, it made handling and cutting a large mat simple and easy to do. I’m definitely happy with the purchase. BTW, excellent price from B&H photo.
