Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Could I use a BNC cable, like the one linked below, to use this Tentacle Sync with a Sony FX6? I'm looking to find a way to use the FX6 without a top handle and still have an audio source. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1327596-REG/tentacle_sync_c08_cable_tentacle_to.html

A: Yes, You can use the Sony FX6 time code port which is BNC with this cable. Good info from Tenticle sync - https://bit.ly/3qcTYih Also see page 7 #23 in the FX6 manual for the port location - https://bit.ly/3e6Rpv2

Q: 2. I have a BMPCC 6k, a Ninja 5 hooked up to a monitor and a Zoom F6 sound recorder with bluetooth. Should I get two sync devices or three? I feel that the Zoom F6 can link up on it's own but I'm not certain.

A: The Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator with Bluetooth 5.0 (Dual Set) (B&H# TETE2MK2) is a set of two timecode generators. Once the two are connected to each other wirelessly and synchronized, each can feed timecode into a device. One timecode signal would need to be recorded with the video recorder, and the other with the audio recorder. Since you are apparently feeding HDMI (with embedded audio) from the BMPCC6K to a Ninja V, one timecode generator could be on either the BMPCC6K or the Ninja V. However, most people would connect it to the camera, and that is the surer option. The other timecode generator should be connected to the Zoom F6. You could use three, but there would be no benefit; Two is enough for your setup. As for a situation in which you'd want more than two, you would add one more timecode generator with each additional video or audio recording device you would use. So, one more with an additional camera or external video recorder, another one with an additional audio recorder, and so on.

Q: 3. Does this work with an Apple computer?

A: Yes, the Plantronics Voyager 5200 UC Bluetooth Headset System BH #PLV5200UC works via Bluetooth and is compatible with any device that has Bluetooth.

Q: 4. Can the bluetooth be used for syncing to bluetooth devices like the Zoom F2-BT?

A: Yes. But in order to do do the F2 Editor app is needed for time coding. Please review the following https://bit.ly/3LkEUr3

Q: 5. Does this do audio timecode too?

A: The Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator with Bluetooth 5.0 (Single Set) can generate time code for both cameras and audio recorders/mixers.

Q: 6. What cable do you need to connect to the iPhone 15 pro?

A: You can connect the Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator using the following cables from Apple and Tentacle Sync. Tentacle Sync Tentacle to TRRS iPhone Jack Cable (6") BH #TEC12MS Apple USB Type-C to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter BH #APMU7E2AMA

Q: 7. Can tentacle sync send lavaliere audio to camera?

A: The Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator is only a timecode generator and does not support lav mic connection. An alternate solution could be - Tentacle Sync TRACK E Pocket Audio Recorder with Lavalier Mic and Timecode Support https://bhpho.to/3HpaN38

Q: 8. If it does not record internally, then is just a timecode generator that accept a timecode input and output timecode too using 3.5 mm for any camera or sound device and bluetooth compatible with a Tentacle Sync product?

A: The Tentacle SYNC E's generate a Timecode standard called SMPTE 12M. This standard is widely used in broadcast productions. Some camera can read the signal and embed it into the metadata of the video files they record. Others can't do this, like most of the DSLR and Mirrorless cameras. On these cameras, you can record the same signal on an audio track along the video. This is called Audio TC. Some editing programs like AVID Media Composer, or DaVinci Resolve can directly read the Audio TC, others need to have it embedded first before you can sync the files. For this, Tentacle offers software: Tentacle Sync Studio (macOS) or Tentacle Timecode Tool (Windows)

Q: 9. Is the older non Bluetooth version compatible with this mkII version?

A: Yes, one can sync between Tentacle Sync models using a 3.5mm cable when a wireless sync model is not present.

Q: 10. How would this work with 4 cameras shooting various frame rates at once + 6 external audio devices?

A: It would not be a scenario where you could benefit from using time code. All of your camera frame rates would need to be matching on the cameras you work with.

It works just fine with the latest 2017 MacBook Pro and is less expensive than the comparable Apple adapter.

There were many more expensive adapters, but this does just what we need. It was purchased to connect our Asus flip C302 Chromebook to our Brother printer, but we only use it for our mouse. The printer setup is wireless. I suppose eventually we'll have a wireless mouse, but in the meantime the adapter works great.

This adapter is very reliable, have been using it since day one every day... why spend double the price for the apple brand when you can just get this one and it will do the exact same thing...
