Q: 2. 2k is it cropping like red cameras or downscaling from 4k to 2k without any crop?

A: According to Panasonic the VariCam LT shoots full frame at 2048/1920 (2k and HD) up to 60p. If you are shooting at a higher frame rate, like 120fps in 2k, then it will crop the sensor.

A: Only Hdmi input 1 is 4k, all other inputs are 1080 max up scaled. The native resolution of the screen is 4k.

A: The highest image quality codec the Cinema VariCam LT 4k S35 digital Cinema Camera uses is AVC-ULTRA's AVC-Intra Class4K4:2:2 10 bit. If you need 12 bit, you can upgrade to the VariCam 35. B&H does not sell it so please contact Panasonic. The camera's go for around $55,000.

Q: 7. Is there any latency with any of the inputs either in UHD or HD? Would this be suitable to mount on a jib? I've had some bad experiences with picture delay on other monitors so I'm just checking. Thanks!

A: On the HDMI input there is no latency but on SDI there will be some latency of 2-3 frames. As far as this being on a jib, you would have to find the specs of that jib to see if it can handle the weight of the monitor of 25+ pounds.

Q: 8. Will this be an active EF mount that will support AF and IS? Thanks!

A: The VariCam LT will have an active EF mount that will bring over lens data and allow you to control the Iris of the lens from the camera. However it will not have Auto Focus or Image Stabilization.

A: This monitor unfortunately does not have a waveform or histogram function at this time.

Q: 10. how does this model compare to blackmagic 4K monitor? I need a decent 4K field monitor

A: Delvcam has not tested firsthand the Black Magic 4K monitor. Our unit is 4K on HDMI input and 3GSDI on the SDI input. The Delvcam screens native resolution is 3840 x 2160 and in itself is a very high quality display. You would have to compare the specs and pricing to determine which is the best fit for your needs.
