Your second indication is the diameter limit. For the battery grip, it may fit but then you will have to pay in the form of a more limited angle to insert a lense of choice.

A: Hi! I bought it for the same reason (but I didn't take pictures yet). :) I have a Canon 6D and most of the time I use my 50mm lens. It fits just fine.

A: It should be no problem. You should only take a waterproof tape with you to fix the front if you take small lenses. (Fold it and fix it) I did it while using my SIGMA 24-70 and it work perfect.

A: I don't know if it fits a 5D mark II. It fits my 6D. What I found however is. It works better with a prime Len. Even it has pockets for fingers, it is quite difficult to manipulate the zoom.
