The RigWheels Passport is an all-in-one, heavy-duty dolly system designed for travelling production professionals. Coming in at a flight ready 50 lb, it includes a collection of rails and camera support accessories that configure into various length dollies for loads up to 100 lb. All the components fit neatly into the included Pelican 1610 case, which features wheels and a wheel handle for simple transport.

Eight 19" rail sections are included and can be connected together to up to 6.3 ft of track. The rails are rigidly constructed from high-grade 6061 aluminum and connect seamlessly via threaded ends. At the full length of 6.3 ft, the rails have less than 1/8" of flex with a 40 lb load placed at the center. Optional 40" rails (available in a set that totals to 10 ft of track) can interchangeably be used for even longer track lengths.

With an included support axel attached at each end, the track can be placed on top of various objects or directly on the ground. Camera support accessories include a multi-threaded, large mounting plate and 100mm and 75mm tripod head ball adapters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you use this dolly for an overhead inverted shot?

A: Yes. You can also add some stand-offs to lower the camera further underneath the carriage if there are any clearance issues.

Q: 2. Has anyone else had the issue of camera shake when rolling non-timelapse video? I have 6 magnets and the Manfrotto MH057M0-Q5 Magnesium Ball Head and can't get usable footage. Any tips?

A: To answer your question, we need more information. When you say you haven't got usable footage, please describe what it looks like. We presume you are mounting this on a car. Where on the car? How smooth is the road? How fast are you going? What camera do you have? Is is a smart phone or consumer camcorder? Or a higher end camera? If a phone or consumer camcorder, the issue is most likely low end rolling shutter jello images. To avoid that you will have to go to a higher quality camera for even though they probably still have a rolling shutter, the issue is greatly lessened. Do you have a camera with it's Image Stabilization on? If so, turn it off. Most IS, when used on a tripod or mount, overreacts and it moves the image when it should not. Lastly, take a note from a former motion picture camera assistant and use ratchet safety straps and a safety rope or chain on the camera for two reasons. One, to lessen the vibration and two, save the camera should the magnetic plate fall off.

Q: 3. Is the Rigwheels better than the Dana dolly? Thanks.

A: I don't think it's better than the Dana dolly, but it depends on your use. The rig wheels plate is much smaller and doesn't have the Mitchell plate groves or any way to lock the ball adapter in place. If you are just using small cameras than its not a big deal and the rig wheels dolly works great. The rig wheels dolly is great if you are planning to buy some of the other rig wheels products as well because it can be used in many ways.

Q: 4. How many pounds can this support?

A: For the RigWheels RigPlate Camera Suction Mount with A-Cups, your maximum payload is about 15lbs.

Q: 5. Can I put my tripod on here?

A: I'm afraid not. This dolly is very compact, it is not wide enough for a tripod. However it does have a 3/8 -16 threaded hole in the center for mounting flat base tripod heads, such as the Manfrotto 502HD (B&H #MAMVH502AH). If you are looking for an option that will work with a tripod you may want to look at the Glide Gear SYL-960 Floor/Track Hybrid Tripod Dolly (B&H #GLSYL960) and their Straight Track option (B&H #GLSYL101).

Q: 6. How much weight can this support? Likely attaching it to a stationary, flat, polyurethane-wood surface?

A: The RigWheels C-Cup Suction Cup CC01 can hold up to 40lb depending on application.

Q: 7. What type of lock do you use to attach a fluid head on this? I'm assuming its too shallow to use the normal 10mm bowl lock that comes with normal fluid heads.

A: RigWheels RMH1 RigMount with Ball Head BH #RIRMH1 RigWheels Rig Mount Magnetic Mount Long (4-Pack) BH #RIRML4

Q: 8. How is the mount removed after the shot?

A: I am not a movie grip so I am just guessing here. I would think a 2 in. plastic joint knife would do the trick, one foot at a time.

Q: 9. What size is the screw? Is it removable so I can replace it with a longer screw?

A: The screw size is 1/4"-20 and not adjustable.

Q: 10. Can I see dimensions picture of this wheels?

A: Unfortunately, the information is not available at this time. By analyzing the photos however we can extrapolate approximate dimensions. They look to be approximately 3 x 1 7/8 with 3/4 wheels.

I was hesitant to use a magnetic solution to mount to the bumper of my 4x4. But this is working great. I'm still a little nervous at times so I'm thinking of getting a safety strap of some kind.

Used this mount with the Sony Action Cam on the front of my RV. Drove well over a thousand miles without any problems. The rubber coating prevents scratches. I would highly recommend this product.

Very impressed with the strength of the magnet. Did not move for an entire week mounted sideways.

Does exactly what is says it can do. Great way to mount gopro cameras on a car without scratching the paint. The rubber coated magnets don't scratch anything. Excellent product. A must have if you are shooting driving footage.
