Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a weight difference between the BG-R20 and the BG-R20EP? If so, what does each grip weigh? Thanks.

A: The weight is pretty similar across the BG-R20, BG-R20EP, CF-R20EP Battery Grips. They all weight approximately 12.04oz / 340 gm.

Q: 2. Power adapter

A: The Canon BG-R10 Battery Grip holds Holds One or Two LP-E6NH Batteries and does not work with a power adapter.

Q: 3. How long will the battery grip last on the R5 C when filming at 4k 30fps?

A: This has a lot of variables. It depends on the codec/bitrate of 4K that you select. Other factors include, the screen brightness, the electronic viewfinder and if you're using it or not. But a rough estimation should be about 1-4 hours depending on the said variables.

Q: 4. Does this drain one battery first, then switch to the second battery so that you can pull the drained battery out and charge it while still shooting with the second battery? or do they both drain in parallel?

A: The batteries are drained in parallel.

Q: 5. Will the grip work with the R5C?

A: No, the Canon BG-R20 Battery Grip is not compatible with the Canon EOS R5 C Mirrorless Cinema Camera.

A: The Canon BG-R10 Battery Grip is compatible with the Canon R5 II, with reduced functionality: Network connectivity (wi-fi/wired LAN) is not available. Continuous shooting speed is reduced and it's not possible to select 8K DCI/8K UHD/RAW/SRAW movie recording size, Fine Image quality, or 239.76/200.00/119.88/100.00/59.54/50.00 fps frame rates. Bought to add to my R5 body, expect to significantly extend battery life and a better grip on the body itself.

The ergonomics and battery life always make these an accessory that I highly recommend.

Obviously purchased along with the R5 II. Does give me the extra battery power I was looking for along with a nice sense of balance with the camera mounted to the Canon 100-500 mm lens. Fits like a glove, nothing more to say. Basic battery grip.

Having two batteries as well as the on camera charger is a dream come true. Use the camera for hours, bring it home, attach the on camera charger and next morning ready to go. Also it makes the camera easy to use, specially those with big hands. By the way when I am resetting the camera with a new setting I use the LP-E6NH old batteries and save the power of the LP-E6P for shooting. It works very well.
