A: This camcorder has the ability to output HDMI at up to 4k 60fps. While there are many monitors that accept 4k, it tends to be at only up to 30fps, not 60fps. Even a monitor like the Atomos Shinobi only accepts 4k30fps through HDMI, BH #ATSHINSDI. Having to lower the output quality would be the norm with most monitors. Keep in mind that 5 - 7" on camera monitors may accept a 4K signal, but the screen itself will only be HD quality. There really is no loss to setting the output to 1080p, which you can do while keeping the recording quality internally at 4K.

Q: 2. I have read different answers to this question. Does the HC-X1 record 4K at 60p or only 4K 24bit?

A: This camera can do DCI 4K at 24FPS. It can do UHD 4K up to 59.94. This is an 8 bit camera. 24bit is in software multiplying the three 8 bit color channels. Some RED camera's make it to 12 bit.
