Q: 1. I screwed the head on my tripod..how do I prevent it from unscrewing or swiveling at the base and becoming unscrewed over use?

A: There has been nothing implemented to prevent the following head from un screwing off the center column but applying enough tension when mounting the system.

Q: 2. Will this pistol grip fit on an Induro AKB0 tripod? The tripod has a smaller attachment than the Manfrotto tripods, so I'm thinking they may not go together.

A: I started serious photography in 1995, back then you had to be resourceful, I'd say go to a hardware store that cuts, threads steel pipes. This type of hardware store will have on hand very small inserts that may act as go-betweens to allow a self modification from 1/4 to your specific need. I hope that I helped you on this endeavor, photography can be like cutting, threading steel pipes, your not sure what your doing, but you're pretty sure your going to like it...

Q: 3. Im new to tripods. Can I assume this fits on all Manfrotto legs?

A: This will attach to any tripod with a 3/8 male threaded attachment.

Q: 4. Hi, I will use it with my GH5 to shoot videos but only in my hard trips (traveling). In your opinion is it good for video or do I have to look for another head? I need a very light head. THANKS

A: It is a fantastic head and one I have used for many years, starting with earlier designs, BUT it is not the best for video work. I would suggest a more dedicated video head that offers better panning.

Q: 5. Can support Peak Design Arca-Style plate?

A: No it will not. You would need the Peak Design PROplate.

Q: 6. I plan to use this head with my Sigma 150-600mm Sport lens: Does it attach and release easily? Is it stable or is the XPRO with quick release and QR plate a better option for this heavier lens?

A: The Manfrotto MHXPRO-BHQ6 XPRO is in my opinion the best one out of those. It has an Arca-Swiss style plate and those seem to be more secure with a heavy lens. And with an Arca-Style plate you can get other plates. And when you use that head with the 150-600 lens it would be better to use a longer plate like this one Wimberley P50 Quick Release Plate B&H # WIQRPP50 MFR # P-50.

Q: 7. What is the size of the silver pin on the end of the spring arm?

A: The silver pin/post on the dual spring arm included in the DigitalFoto Solution Limited THANOS Pro with Adapter for DJI RS 2/3/3 Pro & Single-Handle Gimbals (11-40 lb) kit is 16mm.

Q: 8. How do I set this head so my camera lens will point upward toward the sky?

A: If you want to point your camera directly skywards, you may have to rotate your camera's placement on the quick release plate by 90°.

Q: 9. What is the main difference between this and the Manfrotto 327RC2 Ball Head? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/680140-REG/Manfrotto_327RC2_327RC2_Joystick_Head.html/qa

A: The 322RC2 is an older model with friction control for the ball sphere. The 327RC2 is newer and lacks the friction control.

Q: 10. I'll be using the head to mount binoculars for astronomy. Is it possible to point the head vertically, so that I can look directly upwards?

A: I don't think you can. I do not like this design. I liked the old style of pistol grip. With this style you have to use your right hand to move the grip, which is the same hand you use to trip the shutter button. The old style of pistol grip, you could use with either hand. There is no way to flip the grip on the horizontal style.

In combination with the 190 XProb Aluminum Tripod. Once you use a balhead, you can't do without anymore

I recently had to replace my tripod and, having done a good bit of research, decided that the Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 was the way to go (a decision I have been very, very happy with). After looking at various ballhead options I went with the 322RC2 Grip Action Ballhead. One of the selling points for me (in addition to a number of great reviews) was a youtube video which showed both types of ballheads in action. I liked the maneuverability of this particular ballhead and the quick release option. I knew, going into this purchase, that it probably wasn't the best option for moving objects (I am a wildlife photographer and tend to shoot alot of birds), but I was fine with that as I tend to do better handholding for flying shots. Plus, I figured I could always buy another ballhead down the road that might better accommodate movement. I have only had this system a few weeks, but I absolutely love it. It is easy to use, very flexible and I love the quick release option. I would recommend this to anyone without reservation.

Aside from the unmatchable fun of just saying Grip Action Ballhead, this makes a wonderful accessory between your camera and your tripod. It's fast, convenient and solid.

Got this brilliant piece of engineering for $40 used, mint condition, which is a ridiculous batgain for the usability and quality of the product. I'm seeing comments all over the internet about how this grip head is a great idea but just too limited in it's movement. That's what I thought, until I loosened the friction to a point where I found out it has TWO pan/tilt mechanisms. You can manoeuvre over the obvious ball head, but also rotate the thing motorcycle-gas-handle style, unlocking a near limitless positioning system.

Pro: quality, usability, quick lock RC2, adjustment speed, dirt cheap second hand
Con: a bit heavy for outdoor use, no good for fluid (video) use

Makes for fast compositions with one control. Compact and not too heavy for my carry-on baggage. Great head for those who use air travel often and want to keep the number of bags down to a minimum.

My first experience with a ball head. Grip action allows speedy movement and grip release is secure. Recommend highly.

This was the perfect head for my uses with my 055CXPRO4 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod for long range shooting. It is precise enough to easily get on target at extended ranges, 600 yards plus, and then holds my spotting scope perfectly still. Just wish that I had the fore thought to buy a spare plate so I could quickly switch from my spotting scope to my camera. Oh well, next purchase I suppose.

Works great as advertised. Can not go wrong with this grip. Only downfall as it is rather large and heavy. But what can you expect since it is made of steel and not flimsy plastic.
