Designed for use in RAID or NAS arrays with 1 to 8 drive bays, the 8TB N300 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD from Toshiba meets the reliability, performance, endurance, and scalability requirements of 24/7 NAS applications for personal, home office, and small business use. This 8TB drive operates using a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, a 512MB cache, and a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, all of which help to ensure uninterrupted data transfers with a rate of up to 281 MB/s. This drive also features high levels of reliability, with 600,000 load/unload cycles, 1 in 1015 non-recoverable read errors per bits read, a workload rate of up to 180TB per year, and a 1 million hour MTTF. Shock protection is provided by a rotational vibration sensor, while ramp loading helps reduce wear and Error Recovery Control limits recovery time to help optimize error correction.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will the hard work on ps5 and storage their games with no problems ?

A: This Seagate IronWolf Pro drive is a 3.5" Hard drive for use in an NAS enclosure. It will not fit inside your PS5. The PS5 uses an NVME M.2 SSD for internal storage. For expanded internal storage, I would recommend considering something like this Seagate 2 TB Firecuda: https://bhpho.to/3KR7Isl . If you are looking for a 16 TB drive for bulk storage, you could consider an external drive like this, but it will require connection to a wall outlet for power, and it will load games and data much slower than an SSD: https://bhpho.to/3RKbOow .

Q: 2. Is this 18Tb IronWolf Pro ST18000NE000 compatible with Synology DS420+ ? Thanks!

A: The Seagate 18TB IronWolf Pro 7200 rpm SATA III Internal NAS HDD is currently not listed as a compatible drive on the Synology compatibility list.

Q: 3. I intend to hook up 4 of these as part of a RAID 0 array to boost performance speeds while doing photo editing and graphics intensive work. Is this ideal for RAID 0, or are they better options out there? WD Black or Seagate Barracuda Pro perhaps?

A: These will work well.

Q: 4. I’m a professional photographer and all of my images are stored via these large drives. My operating system is on a ssd, and when I first bring images in they are processed on my ssd drive. But one I store them, they are still accessed by my software (Lightroom and other Adobe products), and often I’m still retrieving, searching for and editing the images long after they were moved off my ssd drive. This drive will be wired directly into my mother board and PC that has 4 storage drives. What are the pros of the following two drives and cons for my situation. Which would you recommend? Thank you.

A: I think your question boils down to a comparison of an SSD vs a HDD. For backup there are many reasons to go with a hard drive. Price, Capacity. For the OS and Applications - we would suggest SSDs.

Q: 5. Why does B&H list this drive as a ST4000NEA025 when (AFAIK) no such part exists, and the photos used indicate the actual part number, ST4000NE025?

A: With lots of dealings with Seagate drives, the “A” is for the US market. Replace “A” for Z” for Canada and so on. This is proper 👍 If you try to warranty swap an international drive in the US MARKET, you’ll be screwed

Q: 6. re: B&H #SEST18000NE0. Is "17200 rpm" a typo?

A: The Seagate 18TB IronWolf Pro 7200 rpm SATAIII Internal NAS HDD (CMR) BH #SEST18000NE0 is a 7200rpm drive. The error has been reported and should be updated as soon as possible.

Q: 7. Hi B&H Team, will ST16000NT001 work with 2big Dock Thunderbolt 3?

A: The 2Big Docks come with drives, but the Seagate 16TB IronWolf Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD (CMR) BH #SEST16000NT1 could be used.

Q: 8. Is it compatible with QNAP 473A?

A: This drive SEST16000NE0 is compatible with with a Qnap TS-473A.

Q: 9. Will this drive work with a SABRENT USB 3.0 SATA I/II/III bay?

A: You can use this Ironwolf drive in a Sabrent 3.5" enclosure BH #SAECKSL3.

Q: 10. Is it compatible with nas synology DS920+?

A: Yes. This Seagate 16TB IronWolf Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD (CMR, OEM) would work with the Synology DS920+

This is for a new computer build with a 250 GB SSD for primary drive and the WD Cavier Black for data. This is my 5th WD Cavier Black - all different sizes. Never any issues or failures like my Seagate Barricudas! Will continue to buy and highly recommend.

Drive was a little heavier than I expected, but still sits pretty well in my case and was installed easily. Being used as a secondary storage drive while the primary SSD is for Windows. Been about a month and so far there are no problems. The big deal breaker for me was the 5-year warranty on a Western Digital product, so I will see how this turns out down the road.

I recently purchased three of these to replace 6-year-old Seagate drives on my sound production computer (one for the OS, one for audio, one for sample/video files). The Seagate drives worked perfectly for me; my main motivation for the upgrade was disk space. I contemplated getting an SSD for my primary drive, but I probably would have only noticed a marginal increase in performance with the age of my MOBO. Other than digging around in the computer chassis, installation was pretty straightforward. I used WD's free True Image cloning software (available through their website) to copy all of the data from my old drives. I was slightly concerned about copying over the OS, but everything worked without a hitch. I have already used these drives in several editing sessions and am happy with their performance. And to my delight, they're even quieter than my previous drives. If and when I upgrade my computer, I definitely feel comfortable bringing these drives along.

Have had no trouble with my other Caviar Black Hard Drives so was happy to give these 4TB drives a spin as well.

I've used WD Caviar Drives for video editing and internal hard drives for my PCs and Macs for years, and I've found them to be very reliable.
