Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this unit convert/scale SDI input to SDI Output?

A: The Lumantek HDMI/SDI Cross Converter with Audio Mux/Demux and Scaler is designed as a cross converter and it can perform conversion and scaling from either input to either output, as needed.

Q: 2. Can it output from Macs that don't have support for external HDR displays?

A: The AJA T-TAP Pro Thunderbolt 3-Powered Converter with 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 Output would support the following applications and allow you to output to HDR displays. See software compatibility. https://bit.ly/3GFz7dP

Q: 3. Will this take the audio from HDMI and convert to SDI as well as the video? And if so, can you also input audio overlay with the HDMI audio as well?

A: The Lumantek EZ-HSV+ will take the video and audio from HDMI and convert it to SDI. The DIP Switch setting for AUDIO allows you to input audio overlay. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/611210.pdf

Q: 4. So I have to ask. What does NTSC 59.94/60 mean on the Video Input and Video Output format mean?

A: That number denotes the format being transported through. The NTSC refers to the TV standards being employed and the numbers represent the applicable frame rate on the signal.

Q: 5. The overview lists compatibility with Mac OS 10 and 11 but does not mention OS 12 or 13. Is this box really that far behind?

A: The AJA T-TAP Pro Thunderbolt 3-Powered Converter with 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 Output is compatible with the latest version of MacOS as well as the latest silicone chips.

Q: 6. Are the output ports mirrored or can I send different output content to them independently?

A: Both outputs can be used simultaneously at all times, and the HDMI output can be connected directly into 4K HDMI monitors for monitoring HDR video in PQ, HLG, HDR10, and Dolby Vision formats with third-party support.

Q: 7. Does this work with Davinci Resolve Studio?

A: Unfortunately, the AJA T-TAP Pro Thunderbolt 3-Powered Converter with 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 Output is not compatible with Blackmagic Design Davinci Resolve. Blackmagic Design is particular with its expansion devices and will need its own models.

Q: 8. Does this device test analog signals? Or just digital signals?

A: This is a HDMI to HD-SDI scaler. It converts HDMI signals (which are only HD or "digital") to SDI. (a signal type typically used in broadcast or television studios). I am not sure what you mean by "test", the device doesn't test anything. Although the display does offer confidence that the incoming HDMI signal is present and some basic information about the incoming HDMI signal. HDMI signals are very hard to test and require exotic equipment to truly test the signal (and cable). The Lumantek offers a particularly advanced features typically only found on much more expensive HDMI-HD-SDI converters/sealers; namely the option to set the outgoing resolution as fixed. This feature is particularly useful when using non-scaling video switchers such as the Black Magic ATEM series, which require specific set input specifications/resolutions. If you want to connect more than one HDMI device to the ATEM switcher, such as a DVD and PC, the Lumantek can make sure each HDMI device signal is converted to a single signal standard for use with the ATEM. Lumantek offers a companion product, the EZ-SHV+ scaler that converts HD-SDI signals to HDMI. We have deployed over 80 units without any product quality issues.

Q: 9. Can this be powered via USB?

A: There aren't any USB powering options on the device; only a DC barrel input with a VDC AC Power Adapter that is included.

Q: 10. please post the mm of the DC input so I can track down a DC to usb appropriate cable?

A: According to the manufacturer, the Lumantek SDI to HDMI Converter with Display and Scaler can use a USB cable with DC Jack that is 5.5 x 2.1mm, USB 5V to DC 12V.
