A: Hi. This means it has a 32" capacity between the hinges. You can insert the 32" side of a full sheet of mat board into the cutter but not the 40" side. I hope that helps. Thanks.

Q: 2. I see a reply from Logan rep that the rail can be used with the #2000 mat cutter. Where do I get the clips that attach to the cutter and slide on the rail?

A: Unfortunately, we do not carry the 501/162 nylon guides and screws mentioned by Logan separately.

A: The one I bought is the 40-inch one without end stops so yes. Even with the 24-inch one you can make longer than 24-inch cuts you just have to move the guide to do it. For the extra 10 dollars or so get the longer one.

Q: 6. Will this fit on any Logan board?

A: This unit works on my Logan 301-1 Compact Classic Mat Cutter. It cuts straight and true, but recommend making several draws of the blade rather than trying to make the cut in a single stroke. If the blade bits too hard and binds it will pull the mat out of alinement. Also make several practice cut so as to learn where to place the line you wish to follow. The line should be very close to the guide but it is not precisely next to the guide (1/32 out from the guide).

Q: 7. Does this replacement head work with the Logan Compact model 301?

A: Yes the #302 is a pull style bevel cutter pre-equipped with the nylon guides so it hooks onto the guide rail. This is the bevel cutter that originally comes with the Compact series mat cutters.

Q: 8. Will this cut gatorboard?

A: I cut foam board with with good results. It works well to keep cots straight and square to the surface of the board. Board needs to be held tightly and I am careful to keep my hand behind the blade in case of a slip. Similar cutting effort to a box cutter but better controlled.
