This is designed for one specific purpose: it takes a low-level phono signal from a turntable, and increases the gain (by a specified, non-adjustable amount) while adding a specified (RIAA) equalization curve.What aren't you just looking at microphone preamps and mic-related products?

A: This should connect to a 2015 iMac via the included USB C to A cable. Your macOS will need to be 10.11 or higher in order for this unit to operate.
