The diskAshur PRO3 is engineered to provide tamper-proof security. Accessing its components requires physically breaking the enclosure, clearly indicating any tampering attempts. Moreover, all internal parts are shielded with a layer of durable epoxy resin, enhancing protection against physical attacks.

The firmware complies with FIPS 140-3 Level 3 standards. Additionally, the drive features a secure microprocessor certified to Common Criteria EAL5+, along with a distinctive flash lock mechanism, providing defense against potential firmware attacks.

It also provides robust protection against BadUSB attacks via a secure USB controller firmware protection mechanism. This guarantees the authentication of the USB controller firmware prior to any unlocking attempt.

If the user PIN is entered incorrectly 10 consecutive times, it will be deleted. Data will remain on the device but only accessible with the Admin PIN. If the Admin PIN is entered incorrectly 10 consecutive times, all data is lost forever. The device will need to be reconfigured before it can be re-used.

The diskAshur PRO3 can be configured with independent user, admin, one-time recovery PINs, ensuring flexibility without compromising security.

No pre-set admin PIN is provided, and one must be configured before the drive can be used.

Once the self-destruct PIN is entered, the encryption key and all PINs are deleted and all data is rendered as lost forever.

The backlighting can be turned on or off, making the keys visible in low light conditions.

This portable drive is dust and water resistant.

Install any OS on the diskAshur PRO3 and boot directly from it.

The drive can be set to automatically lock when idle following a predetermined length of time.

Restricts write access to the drive, making it impossible to modify the data stored on it.

Select between the default AES-XTS 256-bit mode or the AES-ECB 256-bit and AES-CBC 256-bit modes.

Q: 6. Being an 18TB drive, should I expect it to be any less dependable than, say a 10TB drive?

A: Backblaze publishes a report on drives and failure rates. It would seem that across the brands age is more of an factor for failure than the size.

Q: 7. Is there a reliability issue between 3TB and 2TB drives, some suggest 3TB drives are bound to fail sooner than 2TB, is this true? What will be the file transfer rate if I'm using this on windows PC with USB 2.0. I do not have a MAC and plan to install a PCIe for USB 3.0 if my PC supports it. Thanks

A: A large video library for a production company was duplicated on 2 of these drives. One is with me to work with my Mac. The other is with my editor and his PC and AVID set up. We have only had the drives since October 2016. A 1TB Glyph RAID drive did fail after 6 years. So I do not think the size of the drive matters. The 1TB drive was kept indoors in an edit facility. Sometimes S*** happens.

Q: 8. Is the actual capacity of the 8tb unit 4tb if you are actually using raid?

A: Mike, My experience with B & H was distinctly unhelpful. (And I have bought a lot of stuff from B & H). But when I needed B & H to exhibit the simplest measure of consideration, it refused. Consequently, I cannot encourage anyone to purchase anything from B & H. By contrast, my experience with customer service/tech support at Glyph Technologies was beyond outstanding. I suggest that you email Glyph and, if needed, set up a phone call. These folks are serious and follow through. Good luck.-- Daniel
