        Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. In your preview of the telescope were four pictures of what the telescope sees. What do I need to do to see things that clear. What do I need to be able to photograph what I see thru the telescope eyepiece?

A: Pictures like the ones you see are taken with camera attached directly to the Optical Tube Assembly (the telescope without diagonal or eyepiece). To do this with the EVO72, these are the devices you would need: BH# SKE72EDRCA, SKFRFP80 and the correct SkyWatcher M48 adapter for either Nikon, Canon or Sony E mount camera.

Q: 2. What do I need to photograph with my Nikon D610?Does it match directly with camera body?

A: Here is the ideal setup for using the Nikon D610 DSLR Camera on the Sky-Watcher Evostar ED APO 72mm f/5.8 Refractor Guidescope (OTA Only). First on the telescope would be the Sky-Watcher Reducer/Corrector Adapter for Evostar 72ED, BH #SKE72EDRCA (https://bhpho.to/3t8G963). This will allow us to then use the Sky-Watcher 0.85x Focal Reducer/Corrector for ED80 Telescope, BH #SKFRFP80 (https://bhpho.to/3N063AZ). Then use the Sky-Watcher S20301 M48 Camera Adaptor for Nikon, BH #SKCAN (https://bhpho.to/3PSHjN2).

Q: 3. How to mount it on C11 OTA? What accessory do i need?

A: A mounting cradle-ring assembly clamps over the OTA and lets the user adjust the orientation and position of the scope relative to the mount to optimize viewing comfort and to help with balancing, while avoiding interference with other equipment. The scope is offered without a mount or tripod, but a Vixen-style dovetail plate makes it compatible with any mount head with a Vixen-style saddle.

Q: 4. what size filters does this scope use?

A: This Scope takes 1.25" Eyepieces. So 1.25" Filters will work on those Eyepieces.

Q: 5. I have a approximately 2003 version of the Celestron CGE 1100 with computerized mount. Will the Esprit 80 mm scope fit onto this mount?

A: Unfortunately your mount will not work with this scope. You would need a Altazimuth Mount. A nice Motorized Mount you could do is the Sky-Watcher AllView Mount. Website link: http://bhpho.to/1HZzX1D

Q: 6. Can this telescope be mounted on a Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTI Mount ?

A: The Sky-Watcher Evostar ED APO 72mm f/5.8 Refractor Guidescope (OTA Only), will mount onto the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTI Mount using a V-style dovetail,

Q: 7. Mounting rings for the TV-85? You need these AND a mounting plate for this scope.

A: For the Tele Vue TV-85 85mm f/7 APO Doublet Refractor Telescope, the B&H # TEVSM MFR # AVT-1011 is needed to mount it to a standard Vixen style telescope mount or the BH #TE3RMS • MFR #RS3-8003 is needed to mount it to a standard 1/4-20 tripod.

Q: 8. Can I use this as a telesope, or is it some kind of accessory?

A: The Sky-Watcher Evostar ED APO 72mm f/5.8 Refractor Guidescope (OTA Only) can be used as a telescope too but most people are using it as a guidescope or for deep space imaging with a camera.

Q: 9. What do I need to use a Nikon 5100 with this telescope?

        A: You will need the Sky-Watcher S20301 M48 Camera Adaptor for Nikon BH #SKCAN • MFR #S20301 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/759388-REG/Sky_Watcher_S20301_S20301_Camera_Adaptor_for.html

Q: 10. What do I need to connect a Cannon EOS camera to the Sky-Watcher Evostar 72mm?

        A: For Astrophotography, these three items: BH# SKFRFP80 (MFR# S20200) BH# SKE72EDRCA (MFR# S20210) and BH# SKCAC (MFR# S20300)

I did a lot of homework before purchasing this lens, even renting it first. Bought the lens shortly after the rental agreement was up as I was so impressed with this lens. Read lots of reviews etc. Is it expensive, depends but if whats important to you are the images, then this lens will not let you down. Sure, there is distortion on the wide end but easily corrected with most image software. I am very happy with my purchase.

This has become my default lens. It is relatively light and small and is quite sharp. The color saturation is great as is the sharpness.

I just received it a few days ago and taken some test shots at various focal lengths... Crisp and sharp as I expected... I'll update as I have more experience with this lens. Paired with my D7100...

What more could you ask for? Sure it's variable aperture but honestly the light weight is worth it. This is a wonderfully designed do it all lens that was obviously carefully designed with a very high value for the customer in mind. I have most of Nikkor's best lenses, 600, 400 (FL versions) and the whole range of N 2.8 and 1.4s and this lens fits well within this family. If your priority is the prestige of metal construction and gem-like operability look elsewhere. This lens is about providing the customer with a wide range of view with lightness, sharpness, compactness, freakishly-effective Vibration Reduction and reasonable affordability. I've attached a trite image sample but this lens is fast becoming my always with me friend for all occasions. Unfortunately the image I've attached won't do it justice. Full resolution on a 5K Mac screen it's rich, superlatively sharp with deep colors and pop.

Every camera and lens manufacturer has quality control issues to some extent. Nikon definitely has more than most of the most of the other ones. The first copy I had was not what I expected, having problem with one side of the image being sharp while the other side was out of focus and the out of focus side shifted from the left at 16mm to the right at 80mm. I wanted this lens so bad I took the chance and get another one which I am writing this review about and this one is excellent. It is very well built, nice attention to details even with the lens hood as it clicks into position and will not accidentally comes off. This lens is tack sharp even wide open from edge to edge evenly at every focal lengths so I am very pleased with the lens and it definitely deserves the 5 star rating. However having so much difference from copy to copy is certainly very discouraging and Nikon should improve the quality control.

I bought this lens to replace my Tamron 18-270 as my go to lens. I must say that this lens did not disappoint 16 is quite wide ( I always walk around with a fish eye in my pocket as well) and 80 is enough zoom for street photography (I found the upper range of the Tamron to be very limited in its need and poor image quality to boot). It took a little to get used to the slim zoom control as its placement is opposite to what I was used to. The plastic body seems firm and tight, time will tell how it holds up compared to a metal body but for now the weight loss is a welcome feature. The great 2.8 F stop coupled with a 3 stop Image stabilization make this a great lens to use all day and all night. images are sharp throughout the zoom range. The price is a bit steep but as with anything you get what you pay for.
