Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are you indicating that the height is 13.5 inches?

A: The height on this binder is 13.5 inches.

Q: 2. Can the rainguard be used when the bag has a tripod attached?

A: As the rain cover is quite a snug fit, it is unlikely to fit unless your tripod is quite small.

Q: 3. Is the M-A's iso dial made of metal or plastic? The sample pictures here include a chrome metal dial and what looks like a black plastic dial. Its disappointing that the MP's iso dial is made of cheap plastic, but heard it shouldn't be the case for the M-A.

A: The Leica M-A (Typ 127) Rangefinder Camera (Black) iso dial is made of metal

Q: 4. Is this item (LEICA MP BLACK) still in production or is it discontinued?

A: Leica MP 0.72 is a current model still in production.

Q: 5. Which works better for film advance, the all metal trigger arm of the M-A or the partly plastic trigger arm of the M6?

A: There is no substantial difference in the film advance mechanism between the M-A, and the M6.

Q: 6. Does Leica still offer this in a 0.85 viewfinder? Thanks in advance

A: I'm sorry, no, it has been discontinued.

Q: 7. How often does the battery for the light meter have to be replaced? Is the battery readily available for purchase?

A: The Leica MP 0.72 35mm Film Rangefinder Camera uses two (2) SR44(76S) 1.55v Silver Battery or one (1) DL76 Lithium battery to power the camera. Depending on the camera's usage, the battery should last between 6 months to a year on average. That being said, as the camera is all mechanical and only the internal light meter is powered by the camera's battery, the camera is still able to be operated without a battery.

Q: 8. An M6 (non-TTL) has a battery operated light meter - does this light meter set the shutter speed automatically or just recommend a shutter speed?

A: No, it does not. While the Leica M6 has a built-in battery-operated light meter, the light meter simply assists you with setting a correct exposure in-camera without an external light meter. However, the camera is still completely manual, and requires you to set the aperture and shutter speed manually. The only 35mm film rangefinder camera from Leica that offered automatic exposure was the Leica M7 35mm Film Rangefinder Camera.

Q: 9. May I ask if this camera is a brand new one or second hand?

A: This will be a new unopened item.

Q: 10. What flash unit is compatible with this camera? Preferably a low cost option of one exists.

A: If you are looking for a flash that has manual output control (as the Leica M-A (Typ 127) Rangefinder Camera is not compatible with TTL flashes), then the Bolt VD-410 Manual Flash, B&H # BOMHSF, would be the most economical recommendation, while the Yongnuo YN560-IV Speedlite, B&H # YOYN560IV, would be a much more powerful flash for a slightly higher price output. If you are simply looking for an inexpensive manual flash and do not need output control, then the Holga Holgon Manual Electronic Flash, B&H # HOMF, would be a low-cost option for your needs.
