The picture on the B&H website has the reflector plate with the inside facing the flash while the Westcott website has it set up with the inside facing away from the flash (unfortunately I already removed the sticker on the reflector plate. A: This is directly from Westcott: What does the deflector plate do? The deflector plate will create a beauty dish effect. The lighting will still be very soft on your subjects face, however the shadows will show a bit more contrast. Which way does the Deflector Plate go? The difference is minimal whether you place the deflector plate with the textured side in or out. We recommend to put the deflector plate on with the textured side facing out so your flash doesnt have to work as hard. You will notice harder shadows no matter which way the deflector plate faces.

Q: 5. I just bought the Rotalux Deep Octa with an Elinchrome Bowens Mount adapter, how do I use the diffuser, I really hope they didn't make this one part exclusive to their flashhead only.

A: unfortunately, it is just for the elinchrom heads. If by any chance the head that you have has the umbrella hole right next to the flashtube it might work. It's a really handy design. I wish that more companies adopted it.

Q: 6. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECHARGE THIS UNIT ?

A: Between three and four hours.

Q: 7. Does this work with Elinchrom Five ?

A: Yes, the Elinchrom Deflector Set for Softlite Reflectors and Rotolux Softboxes is compatible with the Elinchrom FIVE Monolight Kit.

Q: 8. Does this plate fold with the octa box or does it need to be removed to pack?

A: The plate must be removed before foldiung up the Rapidbox but it easy to do and fits nicely in the storage bag.

Q: 9. Without the bolt, what's the diameter of the hole in te middle? Would it fit in a 8mm shaft?

A: The center of the plate is a touch smaller than 8mm. And the plate is not designed to work with the softbox without the screw and bolt.

Q: 10. Will 2 Profoto A1's work with this...

A: This product is just the plate (I think), they'll likely work with the Rapid Box Duo but you'll have to get your ruler out and maybe contact Westcott. I can say however it's a top shelf piece of kit.

That's literally what it does, it lets the light bounce back to the reflective interior of the Rapid Box and hug every nook before being deflected back to the front. The difference this little deflector plate makes is quite astounding; Instead of having the light barely skim, this plate stops the light and deflects it through out the entire umbrella. It works similarly to a beauty dish's reflector plate...actually the Rapid Box with the deflector plate works exactly like a beauty dish. There is no if's, and's or but's; if you own the Rapid Box by Westcott, you need to own this deflector plate. 5

The Rapidbox gives you alot of different modifying options and is super easy and fast to set up. I highly recommend getting the reflector plate for an extra $, it gives you the option of using it as a beauty dish and offers beautifully soft/diffused light. I am super pleased with this item and think it is a great addition to my gear. 5
