The SR117 from Earthworks is a rugged and versatile workhorse microphone that you can use on vocals and a wide variety of instruments for live sound applications and home/project studio recording. The mic features a 10mm condenser capsule that delivers accurate and clear reproduction of audio sources without the need for copious amounts of corrective EQ.

The SR117 features a supercardioid polar pattern that focuses audio capture in a tight, narrow band in front of the capsule, helping to reduce feedback problems when sound reinforcement equipment is used. In addition, the SR117 is nicely suited for recording sessions in untreated home studios and control rooms, as it picks up fewer off-axis selections that can color the sound. With the ability to handle SPLs up to 140 dB, the microphone can be used on very loud vocalists and instruments without distorting. Singers and musicians will also appreciate the enhanced protection from handling, wind, and plosive noise, allowing them to worry less about mic technique and focus instead on delivering powerful performances. A microphone clip and carrying bag are included.

Q: 1. What is the color temperature for this unit? Is it the same as the dlite 200ws? And does the temperature change with increase in flash power?

A: According to Elinchrom, all of the current D-Lite RX monolights have a flash tube balance for 5500 Kelvin when the units are set to full power. Unfortunately, there is no information regarding what the color temperature would be at lower power settings.

Q: 2. Will this work with a canon eos 250d? Even the hot shoe included?

Q: 3. Is this price for one or two windscreens?

A: Price is for one when I bought it.The Auray version is 3 for $8 and they work almost as welltt

Q: 4. Has anybody seen a lit of the various flash durations for these? I know they report 1/800th at full power, but what are the flash durations at, say, 1/2, or 1/16th? I can't find anything like this listed anywhere. I'm considering the new HS transmitter, and these durations are going to be important.

A: Hi,There is no published flash duration data for lower settings. Generally, theFastest flash duration is always at full flash power for our units, and it gets slower when you decrease flash power. The reason is that by reducing the flash power you also decrease the capacitor voltage and lower voltage will give a longer, slower flash duration. This rule does not apply for ELC units as they are using a different technology.A global rule at minimum power the flash duration will be around 40% slower.I hope this helps.Regards,Will HBrand Manager Lighting, MAC Group US

Q: 8. Does anyone know the effect the foam wind filters have on the frequency response of a QTC-50?

A: Hi Gordon,A QTC50 with a foam windscreen will experience serious attenuation of frequencies above 20 KHz, and thats for good quality foam. The amount of attenuation will depend a lot on the foam texture and model.Hope this helps,Pedro RochaEarthworks, Inc.Business Development Manager

Q: 9. What kind of phantom amp would be recommended for this microphone?
