Q: 1. Is the player noisier when reading a 4K UHD disc compared to a regular blu-ray HD disc? The player sounds normal at regular play.

A: There should be no difference.

Q: 2. According to the manual, this player can play mkv via usb harddrive; can this player play mkv with hires audio tracks (e.g. dtshd-ma or dolby truehd)?

A: It may not be able to decode this information from a .mkv file.

Q: 3. I have read that the smart apps on this model are very limited. Is the Digital Concert Hall (Berlin Philharmonic) available?

A: This app is not available directly through this soundbar. Compatible with Amazon Prime Music, Pandora, TuneIn, and iHeartRadio.

Q: 4. How many fast forward speeds does the player support. Hopefully more than the Samsung player that only has one fast forward speed?

A: We have not actually had any hands-on time with this new product. It has not begun shipping yet. and the owner's manual is not yet published.

Q: 5. Does Panasonic DP-UB820 support Dolby Atmos

A: Officially, Panasonic does not list it in their documentation or specifications. However, most any Blu-ray player that supports Dolby TrueHD and bitstreamed output should support Dolby Atmos. Dolby is wrapping up the Atmos "objects" (the height information) into a Dolby TrueHD wrapper that works with existing players and receivers. When you send that Dolby TrueHD soundtrack out over HDMI to a Dolby Atmos-capable receiver or processor in bitstream mode, the receiver or processor detects that it is actually a Dolby Atmos track and processes the sound accordingly.

Q: 6. What I meant to say was will the UB820 stream to two smart tvs in different rooms at the same time? If so,how? Distance between the two is about 35 feet.

A: In order for the Panasonic DP-UB820-K HDR 4K UHD Network Blu-ray Player BH #PADPUB820K to work on two different TV's at the same time you would need an HDMI splitter. For example the MuxLab HDMI 1 x 2 Splitter BH #MUHDMI1X2SP would allow you to do this. The player would connect to the splitter and then have two HDMI outputs.

Q: 7. They made a blu ray player this well and did not make it region free???

A: The closest region-free model that we currently offer from Panasonic is B&H # PADPUB9000E

Q: 8. Will this player be compatible with an older non 4K AV receiver?

A: It should be “backwards compatible “ with older equipment. The issue is why would you get a 4K player when your receiver can’t utilize the 4K video? If you plan to upgrade your receiver to 4K then I recommend this unit. Also, you need to make sure your tv or monitor is 4K ready. Hope this helps...

Q: 9. How long does it take from power on to playing? My Sony takes ages.

A: The Panasonic DP-UB820-K can power on and play a disc in less than a minute. I would surmise around 30-40 seconds.

Q: 10. Since my 10-year-old Oppo DVD player is not working very well now, I am thinking about replacing it. Will this Panasonic model work with a 2009 Samsung plasma TV?

A: It will if your television has an HDMI input.
