Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with Yongnuo 685? If so, what cables or cords do I need?

A: I am not familiar with the Yongnuo flash. As a former EK sales rep, I would say your customer's best bet would be to contact Turbo Customer Service direct. I can tell you that they do stress the importance of using the correct cord with the flash. Good luck.

Q: 2. will this unit work with the sb5000?

A: Yes it works very well with Nikon SB5000

Q: 3. Is the Quantum Turbo SC Battery Pack approved by IATA for air transport?

A: While I do not see IATA approval for specific batteries, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries are allowed both in carry-on baggage in the aircraft cabin and in checked baggage. The batteries must be protected from damage and short circuit or installed in a device. As such, yes, the Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack is compatible for air transport on airline planes, both in carry-on luggage and checked luggage.

Q: 4. I understand you still need to have batteries inside the flash (at least with Nikon flashes)so how much is the life of the internal batteries extended by also using an external battery such as the Quantum Turbo SC? And when the internal batteries are dead, the flash stops working, right?

A: I shoot weddings with Canon cameras and speedlites. Without the Turbo I would go thru a lot of AA batteries. I now use only two sets of 4-AA batteries -- I change them when I notice that recycle time is reduced.

Q: 5. do they make one for canon?

A: Yes, you just have to make sure you get the cable that matches your flas. The battery themselves are universal, the cables are not.

Q: 6. I am looking to buy an extra Turbo SC Battery Pack for my Quantum Qflash Model T5D-R Flash Photography Set-up. Before purchasing this item, I want to make sure that it comes with a shoulder strap, so I can hang it off my light stand. When I purchased the Flash Kit set in March of 2012, a should strap was included. But it doesn't look as though it is included anymore. Is that true?

A: That is correct. Quantum currently does not supply a strap with the battery pack. It does have a belt clip built into it. If you regard the Accessories tab on this product link, we do feature two different clamp options which will allow you to connect the battery pack to a stand via its built-in clip, and there is also the option of the strap listed as well.

Q: 7. Is the Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack approved by IATA for air transport?

A: Yes. The following is listed on the IATA 62nd edition document concerning the Guidance on the Air Transport of UN 3496 Nickel-Metal Hydride Batteries published on January 26, 2021. "These batteries may be shipped by air transport. The batteries are considered “not restricted” provided that the shipper complies with the requirements of Special Provision A199. This may involve the freight forwarder correctly indicating the required text on the air waybill, when an air waybill is used. The UN Number “UN 3496” is not a UN Number used in air transport and should not be used in association with the description of the goods."

Q: 8. Do I need to use batteries in my Canon flash when connected to the Quantum battery?

A: Yes you will need them.

Q: 9. Can this work on my Nikon 910 flash?

A: Per Quantum website, Turbo SC power pack with CKE long coiled cable may be used with Nikon SB910 .

Q: 10. Is this compatible with Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT?

A: The Turbo SC Power Pack is compatible with the Canon 600EX-RT. You would simply need the Quantum CZ2 Power Cable for Turbo Series Power Packs.
