Good fast hard drive. This disk is very hot, up to a temperature of 40-50 degrees Celsius.

Easy installation and immediately recognized by my computer, fast speed for a mechanical hard drive, between 190 and 200 mb/s. Very satisfied with my purchase and the impeccable B&H service as usual.

Nice capacity, reads-writes is fast. Reasonably priced.

Installed it into a new build as my primary drive. I haven't done a build in a number of years and there were no problems, I'll probably buy a second drive shortly.

Recently my nine year old iMac HD died, I didn't know what to do or how it might cost (other than buying a new iMac), so I contacted an IT guy who worked in the office. He explained everything to me and made the purchase that night, a week later I had the new HD installed and was setting up my system... I really couldn't be happier!! I had a 328gig in the original, and got a 1TB installed at a price point I was thrilled about. If I need something else, I'll definitely be ordering from B&H again!!

I have bought several drives from here. This WD Black 1TB is for a new PC gaming build, for file storage, applications, and OS image backup, etc. The boot drive is a Samsung SSD, which I also purchased from B&H, here. My experience has been, I find really good prices here for memory & storage, on brands like WD, and fast free shipping. Good - drive passed a 48hr stresstest with no errors. Stayed cool and quiet the entire stresstest. Registered it thru WD, it's a retail kit, so it has 5 year warranty. Not so good - it's never free. Reasonable, yes; free, no.

Works as advertised

If you want a reliable drive, look no further. The 5-year warranty says it all. Western Digital's Caviar Black drives are so reliable the company is willing to warranty them for five years. That's the best warranty in the industry. You can buy cheaper drives, but you get what you pay for. I'm not willing to risk my data on a cheap drive failing. I own two of these. I use them for my audio sample libraries, many of which have to be streamed at 7200 rpm, so those crippled 5400 rpm energy saving drives can't get the job done. One drive is the primary drive, and the second drive is the backup drive. They've performed flawlessly and quietly for the last couple of years. In fact, I've outgrown them, capacity-wise, so I'm going to replace them with two Caviar Black 4TB drives. But I'll use the two 2TB drives for other data storage needs. They have many years of reliable service left on them, and three years of warranty remaining. The best insurance against data loss is using a high quality drive, and back it up. Caviar Black drives get that job done. They're my choice for reliable data storage.

The WD Black drive is probably overkill for my situation but I have been happy with the performance of the previous ones that I purchased. Using external drive enclosures primarily for Carbon Copy Cloner and Time Machine backups, when the hard drives that were included in the enclosures die (mostly Seagates or WD Green by the way), I am replacing the defective drives with the WD Black. Also, I am very happy with all of my previous purchase experiences that I have had with B&H.
