A Floating License Server can be essentially any Windows computer on you network that distributes licenses on an as-needed basis to client users in your post facility. With a 50 pack as many as 50 editors on the common network can be using Media Composer at the same time. Once a user quits Media Composer the license goes back into the pool. Although the license server is Windows-based, both Mac and Windows computers can be used on the network to run Media Composer.

Note: If you are purchasing additional licenses for a pre-existing Floating License Server you must provide the System ID of current Floating License Server.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this compatible with the Composer Pro II?

A: Yes, the Sweet 50 Optic is compatible with the Composer Pro II.

Q: 2. will this lens vignette on a full frame at max tilt?

A: There should be no vignetting when the Edge 50 is fully tilted in the Composer Pro II on your full frame camera.

Q: 3. What is the thread size on the Lensbaby Sweet 50 optic?

A: 46mm front threads

Q: 4. We're a two person shop in different locations. How easily can we share projects in process?

A: Avid is very cognizant of the need for people in different locations to collaborate. They therefore built that ability into their program. Essentially, two users with the same version Media Composer share via the internet, the cloud or Media Composer Cloud. http://bit.ly/2nSb42W

Q: 5. What condition rating does this have? I can't find it on the description.

A: The product is new.

Q: 6. How much smaller is the focal plane of this lens on a crop sensor camera than it is on a full frame camera?

A: A 50mm lens on a Canon crop sensor camera would be roughly equal to using an 80mm lens if you are comparing it to 35mm film or a full frame sensor camera. It does not matter if it is a Lensbaby 50mm or a Canon 50mm or a Canon 18-55mm set to the 50mm range. They will all have the same focal length.

Q: 7. Does this license include Avid NEXIS shared media workflows?

A: Yes, Avid Nexis storage solutions would be supported when working with Avid Media Composer 8. Please note that Avid Media Composer 8 is just software and does not include Avid Nexis storage.

Q: 8. I'm looking for media composer skin cover for HP laptop?

A: While we do not have any skins for Media Composer and an HP Laptop, we do have the LogicKeyboard Avid Media Composer Slim Line Windows Keyboard (PS/2) which you could use instead of the keyboard included with your laptop, BH #LOAMCPCSKBUS. https://bhpho.to/2zfVyFf

Q: 9. Does Media Composer run on a mac? Is there special hardware (like a keyboard) that's required?

A: MC is available for OS X and Windows. No hardware required except Avid's recommended system requirements. Additional hardware is needed for certain broadcast preview output, and of course if you run a dongle license, that's a USB stick.

Q: 10. I have the composer pro ii in both canon and fuji mounts, and in both the lens is very hard to tilt even with the ring loosened. is this normal?

A: Hi Christie. I just tested my composer pro II to see if i had the same problem - And i don't! What i did noticed though, is that the ring has an opposite logic when tightening and loosening, so have you tried max it the other way? Can you move it when the ring is approx. in the middle? In my opinion you should be able to, without being worried about breaking something.Hope you find a solution :)

I almost always have this lens on my camera. I have had it over six months and still use it all the time. I almost always have the lens tilted to one side or the other because I like the vertical-slice look. The lens has a nice glow to it even if you have it flat to the focus plane (which is only somewhat possible). The clip that holds the optic in place could be a bit stronger but I have my camera (Pentax K3) all the time and don't baby it or have it in a proper bag and it hasn't fallen out or anything. I owned the K1 briefly and found that the image circle completely covered its sensor also if you were curious.

I have loved using this new lens/optic. There is a learning curve as you have to manually focus, and adjust aperature on the lens and shoot in manual mode. When using a more narrow aperature, your view is darkened so you have to trust in your light meter. This could be frustrating to someone new to manual shooting. A new challenge is just what I needed...The effects are beautiful, similar to free-lensing without having to worry about too much light spilling in between the lens and camera. Now that I am getting better at using the lens, making beautiful images with it and using it intently and thoughtfully are the challenges. I wanted a tilt-shift lens but couldn't justify the expense on something that wasn't 100% necessary for my business. Though different than a tilt shift lens, this offers a different perspective than a regular lens and it is just what I was looking for.

I have a number of other Lensbaby products but this has to be my favourite. A slice of sharp focus, surrounded by gorgeous blur...would definitely recommend to anyone...

Item arrived like the box been opened and repackaged. But overall, seemed like a great lens. Ordered a separate 35mm optic with a filter adapter. 5 out of 5 for build and usability.

I enjoy using Lensbaby Composer Pro II. Fun to be creative and experiment with. More flexible range of angles when tilting than a dedicated tilt-shift lens but without the higher expense of a tilt-shift lens. FYI- This isn't a tilt-shift lens. There is no shifting, just a tilting. Macro pull out is a plus.

The Edge optics are the hardest to figure out but the results are fantastic once you work with it for a bit.
