Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use a 500' SDI cable to successfully carry video feed from a camera to a TriCaster 460 or will I need to amplify signal?

A: I do not believe that any SDI cable is currently capable of sending 3GSDI 500ft, without any conversion or extenders of some sort. The SDI cable functional distance decreases with an increase in bandwidth and data - Belden defines their distances for the 1855A cable as 215 feet for HD-SDI and 149 feet for 3G-SDI. So yes, you would need to amplify or extend your signal with an SDI to fiber converter like the Camplex CMX-3GSDI-LCF or Telecast Rattlers. There are many similar SDI to fiber extenders in market if you have another brand preference.https://a href= http://www.belden.com/resourcecenter/tools/upload/TB65_p28.pdf target= _blank www.belden.com/resourcecenter/tools/upload/TB65_p28.pdf/a

Q: 2. How do you disconnect

A: To disconnect the Blackmagic Design Micro BNC to BNC Male Cable for Video Assist (27.6"), you'll need to twist and pull the BNC connector.

Q: 3. I need to connect two ptzoptic cameras. Will this cable work?

A: It is hard to say for sure with out knowing which cameras you have, but the Laird Digital Cinema Visca Camera Control Cable 8-Pin DIN Male to 8-Pin DIN Male (6') is intended to connect PTZ cameras that have a Mini-Din port and use Visca for camera control.

Q: 4. I would like to know the specs on LEMO 5 pin connector attached to this cable.

A: Unfortunately no specs are available. please contact Laird directly at 800-898-0759 or a href= http://www.lairddigitalcinema.com/contact.asp target= _blank http://www.lairddigitalcinema.com/contact.asp/a

Q: 5. Is the XLR terminal a MINI?...can it be used in the blackagic pocket 6K camera?

A: Hi Angel. It is a mini XLR Male, I apologize that that info was missing. As far as using this with a Blackmagic Pocket 6K, we can't say for sure- these were designed for RED Cameras, however if the pinout is similar on the Blackmagic camera then this should work. Thanks!

Q: 6. Is this rated at 12G?

A: Yes, this cable is 12G rated.

Q: 7. will this work with the Sony PTZ rm-br300 remote controller? evi to rm-br300?

A: Larry,This will work for you. I use this configuration in our small production truck. We have one RM-300 remote controller controlling three Sony EVI - HD1 cameras.

Q: 8. What does VISCA mean?Is the connector considered an 8 Pin MINI Din?

A: This site will provide explanation of what VISCA means. Basically it is a professional camera protocol. en wikipedia org-wiki-VISCA_Protocol This VISCA cable has a DIN 8 connector. Regarding the type mini vs non-mini it is best to see your camera's documentation and part number to see if vendors like BHPHOTOVIDEO have that. Thanks and good luck.

Q: 9. Is this a 3g cable?

A: This cable will function at short distances for 12G. Any cable will be backwards compatible for bandwidth. I.e a 12G cable will function at 6G or 3G or standard SDI.

Q: 10. Is this backwards compatible with older Blackmagic Video Assist models? For example, could this cable connect a RED Komodo 12G-SDI output to a Blackmagic Video Assist with a 6G-SDI input?

A: The Blackmagic Design Micro BNC to BNC Male Cable for Video Assist (27.6") would not be compatible with the Blackmagic Video Assist with 6G-SDI input due to the Mini DIN connectors that model used.

It worked and was the right length for my needs. It is thin so it was easy to hang. Can't ask much more from a cable.

If you use PTZ cameras and require a 150' cable run then this cable is perfect. Good quality and pliable for easy coiling. i use it with with a Datavideo PTC -120 for reverse angle crowd capture shots and the long length allows for proper positioning.
