I use this lens on my Sony A700, mostly for close-up shots. This lens is well constructed and produces sharp images. I found it easier to manually adjust focus while taking macro shots to prevent excessive hunting in auto mode. I wish it had a focus limiter switch, but for the price I am satisfied with the purchase. 5

Works well as a fast prime with a little longer focal length which is nice in some situations. Great portrait lens and fast enough to shoot in low light at parties, weddings, etc. Macro is sharp though I have not used it a lot. 5

I got it about a week and a half ago, and I am absolutely enamored with this lens! I decided to go with Tamron after reading the review given on ...comparison and it stated that this was one of his favorite lenses next to the 90mm. Beautiful clarity, I haven't had it long enough to write anything too negative about it. My only regret is that when manually zooming, I sometimes find that it's not zooming where I think it is. I think that's on me though, not the lens. I truly suggest you go to the website I've gone to to get the most in-depth review possible. 5

I had the lens several weeks, but the DOF is great especially with the f/2 capability. I mainly shoot nature, but I've couple times for portraits but they are well defind.I like the continous manual focus. So far found no dislikes. 5

Totally love this lens. I find it's performance the same with my Tamron 90mm f2.8 but I like this better because it's shorter and works on my D5100. Will definitely reccommend. 5

I bought this lens 2 weeks ago and have used it for macro and portraiture. The lens is fast, sharp, and light. I was expecting the autofocus to be noisy but was pleasantly surprised. There's less focusing noise than my Nikon f/1.4D. I considered the Nikon 105 f/2.8 but that lens is twice the weight, and more than twice the price after the Tamron $100 rebate. 5
