I cannot fault this lens. I am using it primarily for macro photography (flowers, insects etc) but I have also used it for general photography, so I feel it is an all around lens too. It is lighter than I expected it to be. Great lens!

I received this product in the mail and loved it from the time I first had my hands on it. The 2/1 ratio on the focusing is great for full macro and doesn't seem that slow when using the lens for portraits. Speaking of portraits, you could buy this lens for specifically portraits and be very happy. It is sharp as a tack, and like I stated before the focusing motor is just about as fast as a normal prime lens. A great overall product. Definitely buy if you have the money and if you don't start saving!

This is a well made lens and does a first rate job on my Sony cameras. Nice bokeh. I particularly like the manual focus override. I use this lens almost entirely for macro work and have no real experience with it as a walk around lens. Auto focus is of slow to average speed and accuracy. Altogether I would recommend this lens to others and am pleased with my purchase.

After analyzing and reading every review and test I could find on macros, it came down to the Nikon 60, Nikon 85 and the Tamron 60. These were the only focal lengths I was interested in right now. I have had a couple Tamron's before so I thought I would give this one a try, and have been very pleased with it. Things that swayed me over the Nikons: the Tamron 60 has a little longer working distance that the Nikon 60, I had read some reviews that some people did not feel the Nikon 85 was as sharp as their 60 & 105 macros, and I really like the speed (F2.0) of the Tamron(it gives a wonderful soft blur when shot wide open and up close). The build quality is very good, and the image quality is excellent. Some complain about the lens hunting in low light or missing the focus spot, but this has not been a problem for me, the lens seems to perform just about as well as any other macro lens I have had. I think the Tamron 60 is a good value for the price, and a steal with the $100 rebate being offered.

This lens is perfect for macro photography and it also serves as a great indoor and outdoor potrait lens.

This is an excellent lens. It's super fast with the f2 capability and has great clarity. With an infinity focal length it offers much more than just macro applications. My only complaints are that it's a little noisy while zooming and it could zoom a bit faster.

Sharp images and fast aperture. I rarely take this lens off my camera

purchased this for macro and portraits. indoor portraits with one shoe-mounts flash and outdoor came out really nice. very smooth bokeah. took few jewelry pictures with tent setup and it was nice. Auto-focus is much better (compared to my earlier 90mm) and mfd is almost same as 90mm so if interested can use it for bugs/insects too... nice little lens and very sharp. only thing not sure is exposure, sometimes I have to use +EV value to get correct looking picture.

I bought this lens with macro shots specifically in mind but it has quickly become my favorite all-around lens(My Canon 50mm f/1.8 is as good as sold), but it really shines in the macro range. Its feels like a solid, well put together lens (6 year warranty is a plus)and it has been consistently tack sharp, even shooting at f/2. The f/2 constant aperture allows for very shallow dof and nicely de-focused backgrounds, as well as low light shots. The AF likes to hunt around a bit but when it finds focus its spot on. MF is sticky, which makes it a bit harder to find proper focus...but it also makes it harder lose focus due to a bump or slip, so that may be a toss-up. Overall its an optically excellent lens with a couple minor hang-ups, but they will be quickly forgotten after the first few photos.
