It is made in China, and I really like the lens (good photo quality, no obvious lens distortion with it, no problems with it). I cannot evaluate the lens that is made in US nor Thailand, since I do not have them. I would recommend this lens, and I use it the vast majority of the time and it is my preferred lens. It is not considered a prime lens (which is extremely expensive), but I am very pleased with it for my purposes.
