Q: 1. Does the lens come with a Cap and Hood?
A: The following items are listed under the In The Box section on our website as included with the Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens (Sony E Mount):In the BoxSamyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens (Sony E Mount)Front and Rear Lens CapsLens HoodSoft Lens BagLimited 3-Year WarrantyAs indicated, both the front and rear lens caps, as well as the lens hood, are included by Samyang with the lens purchase.
Q: 2. Specs say that it has EF mount, but it also says it's designed for APS-C sensor cameras... This doesn't make sense to me. My concern is that I have an APS-C sensor camera now, but I'm planning to upgrade to a full frame camera in the near future. Will this lens work in a full frame camera?
A: All third-party lens manufacturers who design lenses for Canon DSLR cameras use the Canon EF lens mount which uses the red dot on the lens mount, regardless if the lens is designed for a camera that uses a full-frame sensor or a camera that uses the APS-C sensor. However, a lens designed for the Canon APS-C sensor should not be used on their full-frame cameras, regardless if the lens will physically fit. As such, while the Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens uses the Canon EF Mount, it should not be used on a Canon full-frame camera. If you are looking for a lens to use on both full-frame and APS-C sensor cameras, then I would instead recommend the Samyang 14mm Ultra Wide-Angle f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens for Canon EF Mount, B&H # SA1428C, for your needs.
Q: 3. Hi, a question ... I hesitate between buying the Rokinon 10mm f / 2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens for Canon EF Mount and 10mm f / 2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens ( Canon EF Mount) by Samyang , which is the difference between these target ??? , I only see diferenciasn q is the price .... A greeting and thanks .
A: Rokinon is the makers' brand (ROK for Republic of Korea), Samyang is a second brand of the same maker. There is no difference in the lens quality.
Q: 4. The description implies it, but it is never explicitly stated: Is the image produced by this lens rectilinear?
A: Had to look up rectilinear. This lens produces a rectangular image, as opposed to a round fisheye image. But there is definitely a good deal of bending of straight lines.
Q: 5. Can this be used on Canon EFmount to MFT Metabones Speed Booster?
A: This lens has the EF-M mount for the Canon mirrorless lenses, which is different than the EF/EF-S mount. It would not be compatible with an EF to MFT mount adapter, nor is there an adapter to mount an EF-M lens on a Micro Four Thirds camera.
Q: 6. Can you tell me the difference between this and the Rokinon version... apart from the $1 price difference!I know it's a different choice of lens options, but is the image quality very different to the Tokina 11-16? I can't find a direct comparison/website that has a review of both (so would run the same tests).
A: Rokinon is the makers' brand (ROK for Republic of Korea), Samyang is a second brand of the same maker. The image quality of both the Samyang 10mm and Tokina 11-16 are very good, though the Tokina lens will give you more versatility if you wanted to have zoom.
Q: 7. Would this work on a Canon EOS500D? If so, what would I need to do in-camera to make it work?
A: Yes this lens will be fully compatible with your camera and won't require anything else. Just keep in mind that it will be manual focus only.
Q: 8. Folks, this lens looks fantastic, I only want to know one thing: is the Aperture ring de-clicked? I am looking to use this to shoot video, though I'd rather not pay an extra 60$ for focus/iris gear rings - If this lens' aperture is de-clicked that would be perfect for me and I'd love to know. Thanks in advance, you beautiful people
A: Christopher,Unfortunately this lens definitely has a click on the aperture ring. The click is not super heavy, but is most certainly there. It's a great lens! But if this feature is something you're trying to stray away from, then I wouldn't recommend this particular lens to you.
Q: 9. is there really no way to add ND filter systems to this lens? No compatible products? I love this lens for astrophotography and sunsets but need to add light pollution or reverse gnd filters to enhance those subjects.
A: One could try to connect the NiSi 150mm Filter Holder for Voigtlander Hyper-Wide Heliar 10mm Lens: https://bhpho.to/2yUDy6z . The Focal Length of both lenses is the same, and the adapter mounts behind the lens shade of the lens, and is made not to vignette mounted on a 10mm lens. But the two shades look different, The Rokinon lens shade is longer, so attaching may not work. If one could shorten the depth of the lens shade it may fit, otherwise it may not be possible to mount filters on the Rokinon 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens for Pentax K Mount
Q: 10. Is this autofocus (on Sony A6000) or manual?
A: It's a manual focus lens.
