Because the end is not the flat one that has an upside and down side, it is far easier to plug it in. If your plugins are on the backside of a computer, you know what a pain it is to try and get things plugged into the slots because there is an up and down to it. This does not have that. Also it has an icon on the slot, so it is easy to get the card in it. 5

My 2012 MacBook Pro was on it’s last legs so I saved my pennies and purchased a new one. Unfortunately the constant changing of connectors by Apple made this purchase necessary as the new Mac is Type C. However, this works easily and fits into my photography workflow. 5
