Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can you please confirm what the chains of made of: plastic, metal or other?

A: My chains are metal... they must have switched from plastic to metal at some point.

Q: 2. How much distance from the ceiling should the triple wall hooks be mounted to allow changing the top background?

A: I only need a few inches above the top of the holder to change the rolls.

Q: 3. Can anyone help me find a metal rod for this that can hold 9' muslin backdrops?

A: The Impact Cross Pole for Uncored Paper or Fabric Backgrounds (106.3") can accept the Impact drive at each end to support a 9 foot muslin background. https://bhpho.to/3mzxJRl

Q: 4. I’m assuming the chain will only pull the backdrop down for 9ft rolls. But what if I have a 20ft roll, how do you pull the rest down and/or use the chain to wrap it back up when finished? Does the chain still work for that and at a certain point can you pull the rest down by hand without messing up the chain or how does that work?

A: The chain is a continuous loop with no stops, therefore the backdrop length does not matter.

Q: 5. Once this is set up for a 107-inch roll, is there any way to use a shorter roll in the future or are you committing to one length of roll forever?

A: Yes, but it might be more work then you might what to do. Use an empty 107 roll and reroll onto the 107 roll the smaller size that you would like to use.

Q: 6. I currently own the above set, I refinished my room and would rather not anchor these to the wall again. What do I need to turn these into the floor to ceiling varipole system?

A: I believe you would need everything except the actual brackets and off course the chain drives. I believe the clamps that attach to the brackets are screw mounted. If you go to the link below and then go to in the box I believe the pieces are listed with hyperlinks or call impact.

Q: 7. I have this product, but find that paper rolls want to just keep unrolling. Is there a way to increase tension on the chains to keep this from happening?

A: The white section of the Impact Varidrive Drive expands to keep the paper from unrolling. To expand the Impact Varidrive Drive, you should be able to turn the black knob on the end of the device while the white section is inside the seamless paper's core to expand it until it is snug to prevent the paper from unrolling while in usage.

Q: 8. Is there a way to attach these to stands rather than mount them to a wall?

A: Yes Charles. We used Mafer Clamps (see below) and mounted the Impact hooks to the flat side of the Mafer. You can then attach the Mafer clamps to stands, or auto polls (see below) as needed.

Q: 9. What would you suggest for a 50lb paper roll?

A: Yes, the unit is rated for 50lbs Please be mindful of proper installments

Q: 10. Do these work with vinyl backdrops? I have the wall mounted hooks and 96" rolls of vinyl but have not been able to unroll them more than halfway before the entire roll's weight unravels the entire roll almost ripping it off its core. The chain links have snapped multiple times as well and just don't seem sturdy enough to work unless I have something set up incorrectly.

A: For vinyl I would use the metal change. And I would not go larger than the width you are using now because the foll becomes too heavy for the drives. You must use both sides of the chain to have a controlled lowering of vinyl because it is heavier. Holding both sides of the loop of chain should keep it from spinning uncontrollably off the cardboard roll. We do not sell the Impact chain on it's own but the Manfrotto 091MCG Metal Chain for Expan Drive, Gray 11.5' (3.5 m) BH #MA091MCG will work on your Impact drives and should not break,
