Using this lens on a small handheld rig ISee Shape and an a7Rii. Easily manageable size and weight. The lens works perfectly with the camera. (As it should) Its just a test of time now. I also think these reviews should be done after 6-12 months.

When I bought my A7RII, I was deciding what lenses I wanted to begin with. Since I formerly had an APS-C type Nikon dSLR, I had to part with my former fleet of lenses. I began with the Zeiss FE 55mm F1.8 lens. It's truly astounding, but it comes at a high cost. So I thought perhaps the next lens should be a little less strain on the wallet. The Sony FE 28mm F2 lens. This little lens is fairly lightweight, and also has exceptional build quality. Not being a Zeiss, I wasn't sure what I should expect from Sony. But they once again impressed me with their engineering. This is a solid lens, good build quality, and does not feel cheap at all. I have used it on several occasions now, and it has consistently provided stunning results when paired with the formidable capabilities of the a7.

I've been shooting with 55mm zeiss which is more than twice the $ as this one, yet it's nearly as good and focal range with the white angle adapter makes this lens for the price a must

So, initially I was a little skeptical of this lens. It got rave reviews but it is cheap for a full frame lens. After a lot of deliberation I figured I would give it a shot to test it out and I am extremely glad that I did. I have only had it for a few days, and I have not a chance to completely test it out, however what I have gotten so far is extremely high quality! I personally enjoy the 28mm focal length a lot, but I do tend to shoot a little wider. The colors really pop. It is quick to focus. All in all this is quickly becoming my favorite lens. The pictures I shot here are jpeg, from my A7ii and have no post production done to them. I wanted people to be able to see the quality that you can get directly from a jpeg. You can only imagine the quality you would be able to push from raw. The f2 is also very helpful indoors (especially with a full frame camera) no matter what lighting you are working with. I got some shots along the Freedom Trail and at my work, indoors at the aquarium. Very happy with the results despite some extremely tricky lighting. This lens is absolutely worth every penny that it costs!

love the center sharpness wide open! Great walk around lens as I prefer the wider 28mm to a 35mm. also am happy with the bokeh.

Impressive sharpness, light, well built, quick to focus and quiet. Bought for my A5100, 42mm focal length is perfect for a single walk around lens to carry. Love that I'll stay with me when I upgrade to the A7 line. Nothing compares for the price. Everything it gets compared to in the FE line is double or triple the price.

So this is my first FE lens and so far its been a joy to use. Really sharp, compact and it's a great focal length for everyday shooting. Sometimes its a bit too wide for my taste depending on what I'm shooting, but its a fantastic lens for the money. I do street photography and this focal length works for me. However I am looking to get a 50mm soon since its a little too wide for me.

I bought this lens for use on my Sony A7sII. very sharp and autofocus is fast.
