Q: 1. Is there a way to record and use the unit when the USB connector is plugged in at the same time for extended recording? It says you can on Page 189 of the manual, but, there is no AC/USB accessory power and once the built-in USB connector is plugged in, the unit is disabled from use? How do you do this?

A: Battery Life (a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery) The battery life spans provided here are all approximate periods of time. Q: 2. Does Bluetooth also work while recording? I mean if I'm recording music, and want to listen to Bluetooth headphones while recording, will it work? Or the intention only after the sound file is closed?

A: No, the Bluetooth feature cannot be used while recording. It is only available for use during playback to connect wireless headphones or speakers. When recording, it is always best to use wired headphones since there can be some latency with Bluetooth.

Q: 3. Will it blend?

A: This recorder does not offer a blend feature.

Q: 4. Will I need an adapter to use this mic with my canon 7d mark ii camera? If so which one please? Thank you

A: Yes you will need an adapter : Rode MiCon 1 Connector for Rode MiCon Microphones (Sennheiser)

Q: 5. Can you monitor the recording via Bluetooth headphones connected to the phone? Particularly iPhones, but any insight is welcome.

A: You would need the Rode SC6 to be able to monitor your recording while using the Rode Smartlav in a smartphone.

Q: 6. What is the largest size micro SDXC card that can be used?

A: Per the manual: microSDHC cards from 4 GB to 32 GB microSDXC cards of 64 GB or more

Q: 7. Is there gain control on this product?

A: There is a gain control in the app, not on the microphone. The free Rode app works fine depending on your level and number of recording. Just record a few test recordings, adjust and listen to find that sweet spot.

Q: 8. Can I plug it to ipad mini 2 and record video when playing violin? Clip to violin tailpiece or near of the bridge?

A: We use this Rode mic for all our videos. We even use a 6' extension made for Apple products, we use this mic on our iPads (Mini, Air & Pro) we even use it on our iPhones. Then we edit on iMovie, all videos shot on separate IOS devices get airdropped to our iPad Pro for edit. Audio quality is great.

Q: 9. Is it allowed live monitoring thru bluetooth headphone connection?

A: No, live monitoring can not be done via Bluetooth, only playback. The recording audio is output to the headphone jack, so you would need a wired connection to monitor.

Q: 10. My friend gave me his but neither him or I know if it has to have a specific program to work, does it? And can I just plug it in and will it work for iPhone 6plus voice memo?

A: The Lavalier requires a Micon connector to plug into any device. The correct Micon for smartphone use is the Micon 11. Once plugged in, it will become the default audio input device for the iPhone and will work with any recording app.
