Q: 1. Will this fit the MB-D!& battery pack for Nikon D500?

A: No, it would not. The Acratech Arca-Type Quick Release Plate for Nikon D800, D300, Canon 5D MkIII & Bronica GS-1, B&H # ACQRPBGS1 MFR # 2167, would only fit the camera body only. At this time, Acratech states they do not have a plate designed for use with the Nikon MB-D17 battery grip for use with the Nikon D500.

Q: 2. Can others please confirm,or reject, that seemingly you need a separate plate for each camera? Hope not as I own Nikon FA, F100, FM3A for film + Canon 6D, Fuji XT 20 for most of my amateur shooting. Btw, those great Nikon film cameras & top flight (20 year old 2.8 etc) lens still take superb shots. Given that I sometimes use slide film, a tripod is often necessary when shooting in lower ,but not low light.

A: First of all let me thank you for your question. Our camera plates are camera specific. One plate may fit more than one camera it depends on how the camera manufacturer molds the bottom of the camera. When a new camera comes out we try to find one of our existing camera plate that will work with the new camera body. If the manufacturer of the camera changes the body style we have to make a new camera plate that will fit properly , clears the battery door and it is centered for that specific camera. Camera specific plate are great if you want to prevent the plate from rotating on the camera body when you have a heavy lens or setup. If this is not a concern for you we do offer a generic camera plate #2128 that will fit any standard camera, it may require you to remove the plate from the camera when changing cards or batteries if the generic camera plate is blocking the battery door. I hope this answers your question.

Q: 3. What is the hex (mm) size for the screw?

A: The screw is a 4mm hex.

Q: 4. This 2167 or a generic cork plate 2128? I have always loved my Slik cork plates as they bake into the rubber of the camera and don't slip, ever, but I am curious if this bare metal is some way special. Thanks!

A: I purchased this base plate for my D800 and a further plate for my D4. For me these plates are a thing of engineering beauty, they fit the contours of the cameras like a glove with the curved lip preventing any slippage even with big heavy lenses like my 70-200 f2.8 VRII. The only downside (and I'm being picky here) is the alan key needed to attach the plate to the camera base. I can never find it when I need it which can sometimes prove to be APITA.

Q: 5. Does this plate work with Canon 70-200mm f2.8 II L lens?

A: We recommend a #2130 lens plate for the Canon 70-200mm f2.8 II lens.

Q: 6. Can this plate works with Canon 5D Mark IV?

A: Yes, this plate also works for the Canon 5D Mark IV

Q: 7. Is this one solid piece? Can I swivel the dovetail 90 degrees so that the camera is facing the direction of the slide? From the image, it looks like the camera would be perpendicular to the direction of slide.

A: It is one solid piece of aluminum. No you cannot swivel the dovetail 90 degrees. The dovetail allows you to slide the camera side to side.

Q: 8. This 2167 or a generic cork plate 2128? I have always loved my Slik cork plates as they bake into the rubber of the camera and don't slip, ever, but I am curious if this bare metal is some way special. Thanks!

A: I've used a generic (flat, cork top) plate in the past with no problem, but wanted something specific to the camera when I purchased a Canon DSLR (5D MKII, then 5D MKIII). The 2176 plate pictured here is well made and doesn't stick to the camera. The raised tabs, machined into the plate, face the front of the camera and do an excellent job of securing the plate to the camera once the bolt is tightened. I don't think there is anything special , except that the plate fits tightly from the onset, and doesn't need any time to wear in.

Q: 9. What is the length of the cradle from its longest ends, cradle endcradle end?

A: 2.5 inches

Q: 10. Sennheiser MKH8060 fits with this? INV LITE 19, prefer to avoid it as concern for secure grip on mic and may be leaving a mark on mic. Didn't find much evidence on internet.

A: This mount if fine for your 8060, which is 19mm in diameter, and this is for mics 19-34mm in diameter. And yes, it will be more secure than the INV-19.
