The Sony E-mount Saturn 50mm T2.9 1.6x Carbon Fiber Anamorphic Lens from Sirui provides a classic anamorphic look in a compact, lightweight form. Ideal for gimbal, stabilizer, drone, and handheld use, this lens measures only 4.3" in length and features a carbon fiber barrel that reduces the weight of the lens. The lens produces horizontal neutral streaks when pointed at a light source, giving your footage a classic anamorphic look.

An image captured in 16:9 is de-squeezed to an anamorphic 2.8:1 aspect ratio, whereas shooting in 3:2 yields a 2.4:1 final image. The T2.9 aperture produces a shallow depth of field, separating your subject from the foreground, and the 10-blade aperture creates oval bokeh effects.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I hear this lens has a blue color cast, will that be a big issue if I use auto white balance?

A: This lens produces very desirable anamorphic blue flares (streaks) These artifacts are utilized most famously by the director J.J. Abrams. It does not create an undesirable blue cast that covers the entire frame.

Q: 2. What is the crop factor when using this lens with the Red Komodo (RF Mount)? And, what is the Full Frame Equivalent?

A: The Sirui 50mm f/1.8 Super35 Anamorphic 1.33x Lens (RF Mount) covers Super 35mm sensors like that on the RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO 6K Digital Cinema Camera (Canon RF), so there is no crop factor. If matching to full frame, the equivalent on the full-frame sensor will be 75mm.

Q: 3. Can I mount this lens to a Lumix S5? I understand that I'll have to shoot in APSc mode, but will it physically connect and operate?

A: No, this lens will not go on the Lumix S5 because the camera has a Leica L mount and the lens has an MFT mount.

Q: 4. Does this lens work with the Sony Zv E-10? If so, what is the crop factor? Thank you!

A: The Sirui 50mm f/1.8 Anamorphic 1.33x Lens (Sony E-Mount) is compatible with the Sony ZVE10. It is 33% horizontally wider than a regular 50mm lens. It will be like a 37.5mm lens. Crop factor is 0.66x. The horizontal anamorphic squeeze is 1.33x.

Q: 5. If i use the metabones EF-m43 mount speed booster with a gh5 and this lens Sirui 50mm with ef mount with it still work correctly?

A: Because there is no current 50mm model of the Sirui 50mm f/1.8 Anamorphic 1.33x Lens with a Canon EF mount, this combination cannot be made. There is currently no EF-M to MFT speed booster, in regards to the EF-M version of the Sirui 50mm f/1.8 Anamorphic 1.33x Lens.

Q: 6. Will the HDMI output on BMPCC 4K show desqueezed image?

A: Yes, the camera has support for Blackmagic Raw 4:3 2880 x 2160 (2.8K) anamorphic options with 2x and 1.33x de-squeeze preview functions.

Q: 7. Hi! Does the gearing on the rings work with a normal 0.8 mod follow focus? The pitch seems low? Not sure. Or do I need a ring? Thank you.

A: Unfortunately not, you would need a gear ring/strap for the lens.

Q: 8. when using the sirui anamorphic on sony in super 35 mode, will i see vignette ? will the focal lenght stay the same ? and will this affect the resolution or sharpness ?

A: You will not see vignetting with the Sirui 50mm Anamorphic 1.33x Lens since it covers Super35 sensors. The focal length will stay the same. Super35 mode uses a small portion of the sensor but does not affect the video/photo resolution or sharpness.

Q: 9. Can you record video just like with other lenses without any change in settings - the only extra step being desqueezing in post?

A: When filming with the Sirui 50mm f/1.8 Anamorphic 1.33x Lens (Sony E-Mount), it's a normal operating lens. In post the de-squeeze is necessary to see the frame properly.

Q: 10. Anyone use this lens on a Sony FS7?

A: The lens is designed for S35/APS-C sensors and makes a decent pairing with the Sony FS7.
