Designed for full-frame camera sensors, the Laowa Argus FF 35mm T1 Cine Lens from Venus Optics features a Nikon Z lens mount and a wide T1 to T16 aperture range for improved low-light shooting. Create a shallow depth of field and dreamy bokeh with the 15-blade iris and lens construction of 14 elements in 9 groups. The focus ring rotates 270°, and the iris ring 85° for intuitive manual adjustments with low focus breathing.

The lens features a 63.4° angle of view to ensure your subject remains in the frame. An 80mm outer diameter and M77 filter thread are consistent across the lens series and allow you to incorporate different matte boxes or filters. Cine-standard gearing on the lens, adjustment shims, and a removable lens support thread make up the cine housing of the lens.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the Laowa Argus 35mm f/0.95 FF hood removable?

A: Yes, the lens hood included with the Venus Optics Laowa Argus 35mm f/0.95 FF Lens for Sony E-Mount is removable.

Q: 2. Since this lens has no electronics, does focus peaking on the Z7 work with this lens?

A: Yes Nikon Z7 will show peaking when used with Venus Optics Laowa Argus 35mm f/0.95 FF Lens for Nikon Z.

Q: 3. Other than the Full Frame nature, are there any significant image quality or build quality differences between this and the older 2.8 version that comes in native Fuji mount?

A: This lens is currently the world's widest rectilinear lens. It being a Full Frame lens means it does not suffer the crop of the other lens, and consequently has a much wider field of view. It has a 135° angle of view. This is a significant optical achievement, and really separates it from the older lens.

Q: 4. Laowa makes a custom filter holder for this lens. Can I purchase it at B &H?

A: Sorry , we don't sell it

Q: 5. Is the Nikon Z7 compatible with this manual focus lens? Besides no image stabilization, are other capabilities lost?

A: As the Venus Optics Laowa Argus FF 28mm T1 Cine Lens (Nikon Z) is a fully manual lens, aperture and focus would need to be controlled manually as well. You may also lose any focus confirmation features built into the camera itself.

Q: 6. APS-C or FF? (Does" CF" mean "Cropped Frame, like with Tokina?)

A: Venus Optics Argus 25mm F/0.95 CF APO Lens for Canon RF BH #VE2595RF • MFR #VE2595RF is a APS-C lens and CF means close focus as the lens has a minimum focus distance of 34 cm.

Q: 7. Canon R5 will not fire with this lens. What camera settings are necessary to be able to use this lens?

A: The camera must be in manual exposure mode and 'release shutter without lens' should be set so this lens can be used.

Q: 8. Is it 25mm on Canon mirrorless full frame R6? Thanks

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Argus 25mm f/0.95 CF APO Lens (Canon RF) is a lens designed for APS-C sized sensors. On the Canon EOS R6 Mirrorless Camera this will still perform like a 25mm, but with heavy vignetting. It may make most sense to use it in the 1.6x crop on that camera.

Q: 9. Will this lens accept a NISI V6 100mm filter holder?

A: It won't work because the hood is not removable so the hood will not allow the filter holder to fit on the adapter ring.

Q: 10. Will this lens also have soft corners like most Laowa lenses?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 9mm f/5.6 FF RL Lens for Sony E is one of the smallest super wide angle lens ever made. With an angle of view of 135 deg you have to expect slight darkening of the corners when shooting with a Full frame sensor. The Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.8 S lens spends more time on my Z5 than any other lens. It easily replaced both my Z 28mm f/2.8 and Z 40mm f/2 lenses and It's thinner and lighter than the Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.8 S lens.

This lens on my Nikon Z6 is without a doubt one of the sharpest lens you can mount on this camera. Perfect for landscapes and environmental portraits its simply amazing and very light as well. I also have the 50 1.8 and the 24-70 2.8 S and its just the way to go with the Nikon Z6. The native lens just will deliver so much. They aren't cheap but boy, will the make you say wow everytime.

The lens is contrasts, sharp and very light. The whole Z system is so much lighter and more compact than my old DSLR system. Great value for the money.

Compared to my DSLR Zeiss Distagon 35/1.4 this is as good image quality without distortion or soft corners ~ yet is less expensive, lighter, and smaller. Since the Zeiss is hard to manually focus this is a no-brainer, best 35mm FX lens yet.

However... Nikon kind of goofed, they should have introduced compact pancakes with the Z cameras. These 1.8 lenses are all excellent but they'll large, defeating much of the rationale for getting mirrorless.

Give us a quality 35-40mm f/3.5 pancake that isn't jutting out from the camera body and they'd sell a lot more of the Z system in the USA at least.

this is my main lens to begin any event or shoot, love the weight my hand appreciate it, good for video and stills, and I recommend to use native lenses on z cameras I believe they focus faster with z lenses, not a big fan of the FTZ adapter
