The included low-profile ball head allows a full 360° of rotation on its panoramic base. A: It is carbon fiber. Maybe parts of it are aluminum. I have the monopod version too and that one is aluminum. I have nothing but success with this tripod. Super light, sturdy, and easy to use.

A: Is it worth the price difference? Yes and no. Yes if you will be carrying the tripod any decent distance (backpacking, where every ounce counts!), or if you have any physical limitations like I do (again, where every ounce counts). No of you will be carrying it shorter distances. BTW, .4lbs = 6.4oz., just under half a pound OR about the weight of an iPhone 7 Plus.
