A: The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4D IF-ED Lens does have an unusual rear aperture and does lack a rear rubber gasket. However, I feel it very unlikely that real image compromise due to dust would occur with this lens. In fact, the far greater reality is dust on the camera's sensor. Q: 10. Why doesn't my nikon 300mm f4D lens auto focus on my D750?

A: It should autofocus as long as both the D750 body and 300mm lens are set to autofocus. Check to make sure that the lens is set to M/A and the switch on the body is set to AF . It is possible to hit this switch and move it to M by accident. You may want to also check the various Autofocus settings in the Custom Function menu. Important- if you have programed the AE-L/AF-L back button to be AF On and forgotten about it, the camera won't autofocus when you press the shutter release button halfway down as it does by default. Simply reprogram the AE-L/AF-L button back to the original function in the Controls menu. That should fix your problem.
