Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a spot and flood option?

A: The BoltRay lights are not focusable like our true Fresnsl lights. The Fresnel lights can be adjusted between around a 15 and 60 beam angle, and the BoltRay lights are more in the 45 range. // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at support@dracobroadcast.com.

Q: 2. Flashtube

A: The Westcott FJ200 Strobe BH #WE4740 uses the BH #WE4745 flashtube.

Q: 3. Is there any way to link this to a Good X2TN?

A: No ! must use Westcott transmiter

Q: 4. does it is compatible with the eos rt signal from canon?

A: Yes it is

Q: 5. Is high speed sync supported when using a trigger other than the Wescott, like the canon ST-E3-RT?

A: Yes it does HSS with the E3-RT

Q: 6. High output means what? How bright are these at 6 feet? What is the beam angle? How much does each light weigh?

A: The Boltray 400 should be roughly equivalent to around 280-300 Watts of hot tungsten/halogen light. Yes, the beam angle is 60. And the weight per light is about 3 pounds. // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at support@dracobroadcast.com.

Q: 7. How do you use a battery to power the Dracast BoltRay LED400?

A: This unit is designed for AC wall power only.

Q: 8. Somebody asked if this uses a Bowens mount and someone replied yes. But I watched an FStoppers video for this light and Lee said it uses a smaller proprietary mount. This looks very similar to the new Godox AD300 Pro which uses a proprietary Godox mount. So which mount is this light actually using? Could it be the same as the AD300 Pro?

A: Yes you are right it is not a Bowens mount, they have not announced yet the size of the mount.

Q: 9. Is it compatible with Sony A7r?

A: Yes, the following unit is compatible with Sony and the other following manufactures Canon, Nikon, FUJIFILM, Panasonic Lumix, and Olympus cameras. For Sony an adapter will be needed please review the following Westcott Sony Adapter for FJ-X2m Flash Trigger https://bhpho.to/2USb4py

Q: 10. What are the flash durations at each power level?

A: Westcott does not list the flash duration of the Westcott FJ200 Strobe at all power settings. They only list the maximum and minimum flash duration, showing the t0.1 flash duration measurement (when the light is emitting 90% of total light) in normal mode is 1/260 second at full power and 1/2600 second at minimum power, and in freeze mode, the flash duration at minimum output is 1/7000 second. At the t0.5 measurement (when the light is emitting 50% of total light), at normal mode, the flash duration would be 1/800 second at full power and 1/8000 second at minimum output power, while at freeze mode, the duration at minimum output would be 1/20,000 second. For flash duration measurement at other output settings, you would have to contact Westcott directly by e-mailing them at sales@fjwestcott.com or by calling them toll-free at 1-800-886-1689 Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm ET.

Very good for animal watching.

All though I have not used this product a lot, I am impressed in how well the Stabilizing function works for taking out a lot of the hand shaking you get with a 15 power binoculars.

I have been using binocs all my life, and this is my first stabilized. I do not have any experience with other brands or even the higher end Canon's. I am pleasantly suprised with the stabilization of the view. Looking out across the valley or up to the moon, they are great.

These are by far the best binoculars I've owned; got them primarily for stargazing and that's been limited by weather, but looking at the moon using the image stabilizer is pretty amazing! Only knock is that they don't come with lens caps; not sure about that.

Besides all the excellent remarks about these fantastic binoculars, I wanted to focus and show you how it looks with two Canon 58mm Protector Filters and with two Canon E-58 II Lens Caps.
These filters and caps should have come OEM with these amazing 15x50 binoculars. These filters screw in perfectly, as they are made by Canon and as well as the lens caps.
I installed these filters and caps as soon as I opened the original box and took the 15x50s out of its original Canon bag. No dust speckle was left between front element and filter.
It is a small investment to protect your large investment, so I highly recommend you to do the same and buy two filters and two lens caps.
I also wanted to show you that the Arca-Swiss plate does cover about 5 to 10% of the battery cover, so you will need to remove your Arca-Swiss plate every time you need to replace your batteries. Not a big deal really.
Other than that, there's nothing more to add to the other reviewers. It is the best set of IS binoculars on the market for stargazing and long distant animal watching.

Ice been using these 15x50's for about 5 years now. I've never owned a better optical platform. Super versatile... From spotting at the range to viewing the moons of jupiter and everything in between. Better than some Swarovski's.

These have met all expectations, at least in the brand-new short term. Tight but smooth mechanicals; IS is solid; optics excellent. I've mounted a set of Sensei 58mm lens hoods on the front to protect the objectives in use plus enable the placement of lens covers when not in use, these work great and still fit in the Canon case.

This is our first pair of binoculars with image stabilization and we are enjoying them. They are big and heavy, but we expected that when we order the 15 x 50 binoculars. We've only had them a few weeks, but they have been great so far. The large lenses really do let a lot of light in when viewing animals at dusk or dawn.

Best investment in optics I ever made. Sure, they are a bit bulky, but the clarity with the stabilizer make them my primary binoc. My 15x50mm pair is a constant companion in my vehicle. Never had binoculars that allowed me to "Look" into the woods.I have been using them for 10 years+ with no problems. They cost a chunk of change but the best investment for the money I have ever made. You can read a vehicle license plate from a quarter mile with these babies and no tripod necessary.Make a pair in 50x100mm and I'll think about being your first customer. Image stab should be standard on any binocs over 10x.

I bought these binoculars for both daytime and astronomical observing and am very happy with them. I calibrated the eyepieces indoors using a yellow pages phonebook cover at 40 feet away. With the IS feature on, I was able to read a 10 digit phone number on the cover that had numbers measuring only one eighth inches tall, pretty impressive. They are great outside for watching nature. At night you can see impressive lunar details of the Moon. They are excellent for stargazing the Milky Way or planets like Jupiter and its moons. Although they are heavier than average binoculars I had no problem with the weight or handling them. The rubber eyecups were fine also. I wear glasses but take them off when using the binoculars. On the front lenses I added 58mm Hoya skylight filters for protection and Canon lens caps for when not in use. If you're thinking about buying these binoculars I would highly recommend them, you won't be sorry.
