Designed for small retail stores and home offices, the HPE Networking Instant On AP11 Indoor Access Point supports Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and provides up to 867 Mb/s on the 5 GHz frequency band. It also supports Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and provides up to 300 Mb/s on the 2.4 GHz frequency band. Equipped with down-tilt, omni-directional internal antennas, this dual-band access point features a Gigabit Ethernet port that supports PoE (Power over Ethernet), ideal for transmitting both data and power over a single cable. Smart Mesh technology makes it easy to expand the network into hard-to-wire areas.

Multi-user MIMO technology allows the ceiling-mountable access point to handle multiple simultaneous data streams. An integrated Bluetooth Low Energy radio allows for location-based and indoor wayfaring applications. With the mobile app or the cloud portal, you can easily manage your Wi-Fi as well as create separate guest and employee networks. Use the included clips to mount the access point to the ceiling rails or to a solid surface, like a wall or ceiling.

Note: The access point does not include a power source.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I installed wall vs ceiling?

A: Yes. Included would be Wall and Ceiling Mount Adapter Kits.

Q: 2. How do you pair the unit to the router?

A: This is done with the UniFI Controller Software.

Q: 3. Does the 3 pack come with the PoE injectors? The posted answer seems unclear. They say Yes, but later says its the 5-pack that has no poe injectors. Which is it?

A: Just to clarify for others, I ordered this 3 pack... • Comes as 3 individual regular retail UniFi boxes • Includes the POE adapter in each box • Is the updated model that supports 24V & 802.3af/A

Q: 4. Is this meant for an office environment or is it also safe for home use? Also, I have an office separate from my house. I'm assuming I'd need to get a long PoE cable into the house to plug into here. How long can that cable be, and what type do I need to get?

A: All of Ubiquiti's Unifi products can be used in either a home or office/business setting. As for getting Wi-Fi in your office, wired or wireless solutions are available. The Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-PRO UniFi Access Point Enterprise Wi-Fi System comes included with a power adapter that will supply the unit with PoE via a wall adapter. You do not need to run a long cable to this unit from your PoE router/switch.

Q: 5. How hard is this unit to install and operate? I am not extremely technical or computer savvy will I have a hard time?

A: It's not hard to install or setup but there may be some conceptual issues that come into play for a non-technical user. The biggest thing you need to understand is that its a wireless bridge only, not a router . You'll need an additional device to do NAT, firewall, DHCP, port forwarding... all of the features that most consumer wireless routers do.The upside of this device is the stellar WIFI coverage (at this price) and the management features when you have more than one AP, or are running multiple SSIDs. Also the PPoE feature allows you to mount it unobtrusively on a ceiling or wall (theres a config option to shut the lights off and it just looks like another smoke alarm type device). If you don't understand any of the above terms, there may be a bit of a learning curve with this device.

Q: 6. I have an existing UniFi access point installed in the ceiling. I know this one has a smaller footprint. Will it leave holes left that need to be filled or will this new unit cover the existing holes from the previous access point?

A: I had to patch a hole when I installed mine after replacing it with the UnFi LR AP

Q: 7. Does the device have 180 degree or 360 degree directional antennas? If I mount this on the top of a 12' freestanding wall (facing upwards) and the wireless clients connected to it are below it will the signal be affected?

A: The signal will be affected, you would want to mount it facing down. The Antenna is not a full 360 and it works best facing in the direction of the wireless clients.

Q: 8. I have one UAP-AC-Lite. I'd like to buy 3 more to create a mesh network, so that users can wander the building, and their devices can switch automatically to the strongest access point using the same SSID/password. I found it challenging to configure just the one access point. Is there some Uqiquiti software or hardware that I coudl buy to make the process of setting up a mesh network easier? It would be easier to configure a consumer-grade mesh network, but I prefer the ceiling mount and POE of the UAP-AC-Lite, and I have the internet cables in place to make it happen. I just don't want to bite off more than I can chew.

A: You can use Intuitive UniFi Controller Software. Install, configure, and manage all of the UniFi APs with the intuitive and user-friendly UniFi controller user interface.

Q: 9. Ubiquity pro access point. Will it work automatically once it’s plugged in using adaptor. Or do y have to have special ubiquity software

A: You will need to use the Unifi controller software in order to configure the access point.

Q: 10. Does Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-PRO have POE+ injector included or not?

A: No the injector included is 802.3af standard PoE
