A: I have only used the Captur Pro once while target shooting so far but I intend to do so more often. I had some confusion about the sensitivity but that was more not reading the directions carefully first. The lower the number the less sensitive the unit will be and I needed to make sensitivity number very low to react only to the sound of discharge and not wind noise (it happened to be a very windy day and it took a while to get the right setting to compensate for wind moving over the unit). I don't remember exactly the delay setting I used but it was around one or two milliseconds. You will have to play with the timing. The movement of the slide mechanism is very fast but I was able to capture images of spent cartridges being discharged from the pistol. As a side note I also use the unit as a remote for my Canon 60D. The button between the Lock and the Start/Stop buttons is the remote trigger. Hold halfway and it focuses, press all the way down and activates the shutter. Also, as a bonus it works with my old Canon 20D. You have to order the cords separately but they are not very expensive. The other option is to order the remote controllers but I decided not to do that just yet. Hope this helps.

A: The fan is fairly quiet...it speeds up to cool down as needed depending on output of power being used.

A: I find this works best when close to the sound source. In a similar situation to what you are describing I have run an extension sounds cable ( 3.5 mm female to male) to connect to the camcorder and place the mic on a stand close to the speaker, right out of frame.

A: The connector is not removable but you can use the Rode SC4 3.5mm TRS to TRRS Adapter (B&H # ROSC4) to convert the plug on the mic from TRS to TRRS for the same result.

Q: 9. Will the SMX-10 work on a D3300 with a 25ft extension cable?

A: It would work but to confirm the other responders, running long lengths of unbalanced cable does introduce noise and reduces high frequency response, so it is not an ideal solution. A better sounding solution would be to use our FMX-DSLR mixer and an XLR shotgun, like the SGM-250.
