A: The MVL lavalier is designed specifically for smartphone use and unfortunately would not be compatible with the input on a camera or portable recorder.

A: No - it is designed for devices offering a female 1/8 TRRS input like smartphones and tablets.

Q: 5. Is this mic compatible with the DJI Mic 2 transmitters?

A: The Shure MOTIV MVL Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone for Smartphones has a TRRS connector for use with smartphones. It would not be compatible with a wireless transmitter such as the DJI Mic 2.

Q: 6. How long is the cable from mic to plug in.

A: Mine measures 49 . FWIW, it's an excellent mic, has very, very good vocal presence and lends itself reasonably well to hiding in collars, inside shirts, etc. Just be aware that it picks up audio around the periphery of the mic head, not directly from the front (the front of the mic has no sound holes for lack of a more elegant term.)I just used this thing for the first time with an Azden Pro XD wireless setup, and it worked great - zero breath pops, no wind noise, minimal to no shirt/fabric noise when properly mounted. It's light years ahead of the mic that comes with the Azden setup.

Q: 7. Will this work if connected to a Win 10 2-in-1 PC? Not sure if PCs provide the power needed to operate the mic.

A: It will not work in your computer. That is a TRRS cable made for phones. You can try turning it into a TRS with this cable B&H # ROSC3 available on our website.

Q: 8. Is this compatible with dsrl cameras like Sony Alpha 7a II?

A: It is compatible with Mobile Phones or Tablets only and not designed for use with DSLR cameras or camcorders.

Q: 9. Will this work on a audio recorder using a trs adapter?

A: The MVL lavalier will work with a TRS adapter when connected to a recorder that is able to provide plug-in power via its mic jack.

Q: 10. Does it work with ipad 2?

A: The Shure MVL will work with the iPad 2 and all other iOS devices such as the iPhone, and iPod. Connection via the headphone jack.

This lavalier mic can go under clothing while recording and it will not create a brushing sound. No need to purchase covers for it. When recording from the cell phone, always use a lavalier like this to prevent room echo. The phone's sound system picks up echos that our ears do not hear. 5

Disclaimer: I was sent this product in exchange for my honest review. And the first thing that stood out to me was the background noise rejection which was FANTASTIC due to the supercardioid polar pattern....and make no mistake about it, this is a huge selling point over the microphones in its class, as typically supercardioid and hypercardioid microphones are considerably more expensive than regular cardioid mics. Considering this is the same price or less than all of the mics in its class, this is a huge get for aspiring podcasters and gamers for the reason stated above....but how does it sound? In XLR mode, which is my preferred connection, with some compression, it easily holds its own, and I think i prefer it to the other mics due to its broadcast sound. It has nice smooth low end yet provides a really nice clarity that doesn't get too harsh or grainy up top. The build quality and controls for headphone volume are also a huge plus...but there is one other aspect of this mic that outshines EVERYTHING in its class, and that is the ease of use. This mic is the most adjustable volume wise in it's class, as it has plenty of headroom to get as loud or as soft as you want...and this is a big deal, as other usb mics sometimes are too quiet even when maxed out on your computers volume slider....this mic hits the mark of a great recording volume within seconds of plugging it in. To sum things up...there are no major drawbacks to this microphone. It is built well, simple to use, and can provide some great quality sound and noise rejection, and THAT..is what we all look for in a multi-purpose easy to transport handheld mic. 5

I do instructional videos online. I record videos to my iphone and before I purchased this mic was using the built in mic on the iphone. What an improvement!!!! This mic has a clear natural sound and significantly improves my recording. I like the fact that it has a long cable so I can record video from a distance and still have quality audio. I suggest picking up a few extra foam windscreens (These things get lost). Outdoors I use it with a fuzzy windbuster and had no issue with moderate wind. This was a great investment! 5

If you do audio recording with a IPHONE 6S or Samsung Galaxy 6S/6S Edge for video this kit is totally compatible and will greatly improve your sound quality at a reasonable price. 5

I'm a professional actor and have to do a lot of self-tapes to audition. Using this microphone makes it very easy to speak quietly and still be audible for the more intense passages which are sometimes required. The cord is long enough for proper camera distancing, no battery is required, the jack connects solidly to my Android cell phone, the collar clip is robust and the foam-shielded mic picks up every nuance. In fact it's infinitely better and less expensive than the one it replaced. Buy this by all means- if I can afford it, you can! 5

I use it to make professional video, and short self taped videos. I choose to record with a smartphone for convenience, and it does the job perfectly. Note that it might be a little sensitive for the iphone's voice recorder. I downloaded another recording app, and the level is perfect. Perfect level on my android device as well. I highly recommend this mic! 5
