Available for download, the Arturia Comp TUBE-STA is a software compressor intended for use in pro audio mixing. This compressor emulates the sound of a classic tube-driven compressor, one with nonlinear attack and release times that made it inherently musical. The original hardware was renowned for its lush, round, and creamy tone. Throughout the '60s and '70s, the emulated compressor was found on bass, vocals, horns, and lead instruments.

This software boasts updates to the original hardware that are designed to make mixing easier. For instance, an Input/Output Link lets you push the input without incurring level changes. An Advanced Side-Chain Control enables extensive side-chaining, letting you filter the side-chain input with an EQ and M/S filters, so you can control what will trigger the compressor. Arturia has provided a mix knob for blending dry signal with compressed signal. Using the Mix knob, you can tweak the compressor more aggressively, yet retain subtlety by only using a small amount of the processed signal.

This plug-in is compatible with Mac and Windows operating systems. It will work in the AU, VST2, VST3, NKS, and AAX Native formats.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this work well with the canon 24-70mm 2.8 or the 70-200 mm 2.8?

A: All extension tubes are plain metal rings with electronics contact. It works with all lens.

Q: 2. Hi. Will this ring mantain AF as well IS on Canon EF IS lenses?

A: The extension tube maintains all lens functions. Also, exposure is automatic in modes such as AE.

Q: 3. Is the barrel of the tube metal? Or just the mounts.

A: The barrel of the Canon Extension Tube EF 25 II is not metal .

Q: 4. Will it work with the Neewer i6T EX?

A: The Godox 600Ws Flash Tube for QT600IIM Flash Head BH #GOFTQT600II is not suitable for a Neewer flash.

Q: 5. I just received a new EF 25 tube and there is around a mm of play between my lens and the tube - they rotate back and forth. Does anyone else have this issue?

A: my 12 and 25mm tubes have a very snug fit. There is no play at all.

Q: 6. Is this extension tube compatible with the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens (not the L series)? I'll be using it on a Canon 5D Mark III

A: Yes it is. Actually I also own a Canon 100mm Macro no L series too and I use two extension tubes with it. However you might sacrifice a little bit of sharpness when using two of them, and the depth of view is very shallow at 2.8, so you may have to shoot at very small appertures to have a better depth of view. And with this, you'll have to use a flash gun to iluminate the subject, but here is one tip: if you already own a 430 EX, 580EX or any othe flashgun, just attach a piece of white blank paper at it to bounce the light from above. This creates enough light to expose the subjects and very soft and defuse light making it very natural. You can check my instagram @dvl80 for some samples of macro with the settings I'm mentioning. Regards!Davi

Q: 7. How do you know if you need to replace the light (tube) my firing is getting less consistent. Or will the thing just stop working all together? It's pretty pricey and I don't want to have to buy a new one if this isn't the case.

A: The flash tube needs to be replaced when you are getting no flash out of the Profoto head. Tubes can easily be replaced by a plug and play procedure.

Q: 8. As there does not appear to be any ventilation on the modifier, is there a wattage limit to COB power to avoid damage?

A: Yes, the LightBank Mito Air Tube Modifier (1 x 4') does not have ventilation. Based on experience we recommend not exceeding 200-300 watts.

Q: 9. Does anyone know the lifespan of this bulb?

A: On average flash tubes last around 10,000 shots, but the number can vary widely. TTL can also cause bulbs to wear out faster.

Q: 10. Looking to use this with my 1dx mark ii on my 85mm 1.4 IS for doing closeup macro like shots for product videos instead of spending $750 on the 100mm macro lens for the moment (i'll eventually get it). Anyone else have sucess using it for anything similar?

A: Adding this extension tube between the 1dx2 and the 85mm 1.4 IS will change the magnification from 0.12 to 0.41. It will help you take photos of items such as a large flower, but a very small item like a diamond on a ring would need a higher magnification of 1x. If the products you are taking videos of are large enough such as a desert plate this extension tube will work for that.
