The shortest distance from the bottom of the bag interior to the base of the oval zipper is less than the longest distance from the bottom of the bag interior to the top of the oval zipper. A: Yes, I use this bag for the MT055XPRO3 tripod and the MHXPRO-3W 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head (which is much larger than the 496RC2 ball head). This combination barely fits, so you have to position it properly as you close the zipper around the head, but it does fit. Since the 496RC2 head is more than an inch shorter and doesn't have the protruding handles of the MHXPRO-3W, your tripod/head combination would definitely fit in the MBAG75PN.
