Confirm and calibrate your FDC Multi and FDC Light calibration tool and know your calibration is accurate with the FDC Master Calibration Tool Mark II. A necessary tool for maintaining the accuracy of your gear, the FDC Master provides you with peace of mind using a standard with micron accuracy. This version has an ARRI LPL mount and is suitable for checking the accuracy of your LPL-mounted FDC calibration tool.

Insert your FDC Multi or FDC Light into the FDC Master as you would into your camera, and the FDC Master outputs its test pattern via SDI or CVBS for viewing on a monitor and making adjustments. Line up the image, and confirm your FDC tool is calibrated; if not, use an optional Allen Key on the three adjustment screws to reset your FDC Multi or Light.

  • Optical calibration tools for sensors have replaced the mechanical depth gauges that traditionally were used for measuring the flange depth in film cameras, as touching the sensor of a digital camera can damage it
  • Optical calibration tools can be used with both single-sensor and film cameras, as they do not use a mechanical gauge and thus do not physically touch your sensor

  • Evaluate the high-resolution black-and-white image on an SDI monitor
  • If your FDC Multi or FDC Light is not set to 0 when the image is aligned, loosen the three Allen set screws, realign the scale ring, and tighten the set screws
  • The FDC Master has a CVBS output for when a monitor that supports SDI is not available

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the focus pyramid compatible with both the Canon 7D Mark ii and 6D Mark ii?

A: It is compatible with both the 6D MK2 and the 7D MK2.

Q: 2. Does this tool have a level?

A: Yes, this has a built in level, lower left.

Q: 3. Will the focus pyramid work with the Nikon D810? Your list of included cameras only goes up to the D800.

A: Yes, this is compatible with the D810.

Q: 4. Can I upload images using the wifi to a computer?

A: From my experience, the WIFI option creates a hotspot that your phone can connect to. With the Canon APP, you can send photos to your phone. I'm not aware of any way to mount your camera on your network such that it shows up as typical network device for file transfers, etc.

Q: 5. What 3/8 screw do I need for this?

A: The ARRI Cine Plate for Canon C300 Mark II comes with 3/8"-16 screws. If you need additional screws, please reach out to ARRI Camera System Technical Service at: https://www.arri.com/en/contact#f0=Camera+Systems+Technical+Service

Q: 6. Can this calibration tool be used with a Canon Rebel t7i/80D?

A: I'm sorry, no. The T7i does not do micro focus adjust. The 80D does.

Q: 7. Is there a delay between pressing the shutter release and exposure?

A: There's a millisecond between the time you press the shutter release until the image shows. Maybe slightly longer at higher resolutions Compared to other cameras I've had it's almost unnoticeable. However, if you press the shutter release too soon (double click soon) you won't get that second image. I also think this is a great little camera. I love it.

Q: 8. How wide is the camera strap lug?

A: The lug is about 1".

Q: 9. How the heck do you calibrate auto-focus on a lens/camera?

A: If your camera has micro focus adjust, then you can calibrate the camera with the lens.

Q: 10. Can you use this tool for calibrating a film camera...range finder or SLR?

A: Unfortunately no because film cameras do not have AF Fine Tune or AF Micro Adjustment. That feature is only offered in some digital cameras.
