Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use it with an HD Cine lens that does not have a 2x internal extender, but I add a 2x extender in between the MTF adapter and the lens?

A: In most cases the 2x extender must already be built in to the B4 Lens for it to work. This may not work if you add an extender.

Q: 2. When using this with the FS7M2 (with it's locking ring) and a larger Cine lens like the Sony CineAlta primes, do you still need lens/adapter support?

A: On metal bodied cameras with integral PL mounts prime lenses weighing up to 4 lbs, such as each of the Sony Cine Alta lenses, are fine in low stress situations and have no need of particular support. In stress situations such as high speed car stunts or roller coasters, a lens support would be highly recommended. Not only there an issue of the lens mount being broken but there would be the more insidious issue of the back focus depth being altered and you getting soft images. Light weight cameras with an E mount or EF mounts are not designed for large heavy PL mount lenses, particularly zooms. In these cases, we would recommend lens support as healthy and cheap insurance.

Q: 3. On my FS7 if I use a Non HD lens with 2x extender will the lens look sharp and be 100% useable when shooting 1920 or 720? Will it work with 4 K as well with same non HD lens?

A: An HD lens is recommended for this set-up. How sharp and usable the footage will be really will depend on the quality of the lens being used.

Q: 4. Do you have to use the doubler if your using the 2k center cut on a Sony F5 or F55?

A: You will need a B4 2/3 lens that has a 2x Extender no matter what format you are shooting at. The 2x extender is required to cover a Super 35mm Sensor.

Q: 5. Will this work with a full frame sensor like the Sony FX9?

A: No, this will result in a fair amount of unacceptable vignetting on a full frame sensor.

Q: 6. Will this adapter only work with the Fujinon Lens or will it work with all Sony E mount lenses? I am hoping to use it with the Sony 70-200.

A: The MTF Services Ltd E-Mount to Sony FZ Mount Adapter for Fujinon MK Zoom Lenses is listed only for use with Fujinon lenses.

Q: 7. Why magnification factor? It has no glass right?

A: We are not aware of the exact mechanics behind how this adapter is constructed, but it does indeed offer a 1.1x magnification.

Q: 8. does this include the D-tap power cable?

A: What camera are you using that cable for? Can you provide a link by any chance?

Q: 9. is this adaptor crop the image from a 2/3 fujinon 4.8 lens?

A: Sorry, but we are not understanding what you are asking regarding a 4.8 lens. We can say that if you have a Fujinon 2/3 HD lens that has a 2x extender built in, you can now use it on a Canon or a Sony camera with a Super35 sensor. (It will not work on a full frame sensor for it will vignette.) Regarding field of view, I suggest forgetting crop factor and learn what is wide, normal and tele is for the format you are using rather than calculating the crop factor of a format you are not using. For example, in Super35, 18mm is very wide, 32mm normal and 60mm tele. If you use a typical Fujinon 8.0-128mm Quick Zoom ENG HD lens and engage the 2x extender, it now is a 16mm to 256mm lens. This will give you the focal lengths for what you need to do and much more.

Q: 10. How is this adapter compare to some other adapters (B4 to Canon EF mount, Canon to NEX with optical speed booster (metabones) , NEX macro lens extender) ?

A: Sine the mounts you have mentioned have specific uses and are not directly comparable, we think you are asking about the quality of the MTF brand. We can say that there is nothing better. MTF fit and finish is pro level and is used by international TV stations and movie crews.
